Speaker upgrade

Lately it seems as if my car sounds terrible through the speakers and I wanna upgrade them to something that sounds waaaay better. Stock it has the MACH 460 system, and the owner before me did some rewiring so that the tweeters would work with an aftermarket CD Deck. it also used to have a sub and probably amps. Anyway what speakers have you guys found that sound the best? Right now theres an older sony Xplod CD deck in there which I want to change out too.

Any info would be awesome!

When I got my car last September, it had a cheap aftermarket alpine deck in it. Who ever had it before me also put in some aftermarket alpine speakers, that I have no clue what they are. Had a whole stereo done in January. Put in 2 - 10'' JBL subs, an ARC Audio amp (came out of a show car) and a new deck. It is so loud and has so much bass its ridiculous. Alpine makes good stuff, I'd look into them for a nice set of speakers. You gonna add subs? They make listening to music so much more entertaining, everything just bumps haha

sweet Ill look into that, if I add a sub it will be small possibly an 8in one in the trunk. I dont need anything to nutty lol

There are a number of different brands that can fit your needs but I have too say after years of selling them, sound is subjective. I can't tell you how many people stood infront of all of our speakers and would tell me which ones sounded best too them and it normally wasn't what I would have picked. Best bet is too go to a store and listen too a few pairs. It would also help if we knew your budget, long term plans for the car/stereo and what kind of music you listen too.

Music is pretty much anything and everything, budget right now probably about 400-500 Ill install everything my self so labor is not an issue. I was in bestbuy doing that exact thing it was hard with the little kid pushing random buttons so i just left :-\ lol

a mini sub wouldnt be bad just to have a good all around sound. theres really already no trunk so I can put a small one on the side with a custom box

I have a 10" sub in my trunk and I still have enough room for trips etc. Like Scott said, completely subjective. 500 will get you a decent sub, amp and all the necessary wiring. However I would take that money and spend it on a decent single din deck and good speakers. Also take into consideration the box for your sub. Trust me when I tell you a box will make a night and day difference in sound quality. I know there are mixed reviews and opinions on here about using the stock wiring but I ran speaker wire to all the speakers in my car. Personally I believed it helped, but maybe its just in my head.

I have a 12 in my trunk on 563rms (as stated on the RF birth sheet lol) and honestly..... It's kind of enough but kinda not too. It needs a better box but trunk space is very limited in these cars. That and my old system was around 3k rms lol so you can imagine what I'm used to. Just throw a single sub in and see if you like it.

Btw anything mr Scott says about car audio... Do it. Man knows his shit lol

I am no audiophile by any means! And I hate those big thumping sound systems that vibrate my car from a block away! So all I did was change my speakers to a set of Infinity Reference ones and remove the stock amp as it had failed...I added an inexpensive single din Blaupunkt stereo because it was on sale & could color change the screen to match my blue dash lights! LOL...$350 dollars later & I am happy as a clam in a mud bank. Mostly I listen to my Magnapacks...LOL, carry on I have nothing worthwhile to say in this department!
