Sorry, I got caught up reading other posts and forgot your were talking about a ‘96.
Definitely call them. Those folks are extremely helpful, and they know their product. I’ve called them for help a few timesYou know if one of us was smart we'd just call Dakota digital lmao. I may do that tomorrow
What size pinion shim? You play Rembrandt or use a tool/measure/calculate pinion depth?Got the gears done today.
Man I paid some one to do the install. All he said was that the warranty is two years and the backlash was set to .006 - .007What size pinion shim? You play Rembrandt or use a tool/measure/calculate pinion depth?
Yeah, typically I reuse the shim and play Rembrandt. This next time I want to calculate pinion depth. See if ford racing can give me an actual #Man I paid some one to do the install. All he said was that the warranty is two years and the backlash was set to .006 - .007
He also showed me pictures of the tooth contact pattern.
But in the past I used to remove the old shim and put in on the new pinion and that will get you on the money.
The installation kit comes with a brush and the paste to check the contact pattern on the teeth.
If I think I am right about what you mean by pinion depth I have never heard of a number. You just check the contact pattern and measure back lash.Yeah, typically I reuse the shim and play Rembrandt. This next time I want to calculate pinion depth. See if ford racing can give me an actual #
I installed mine in the engine bay. I grabbed the speed sensor wires from the connector on the passenger side firewall, where the transmission harness comes up. You could also do it in the dash. Pull the cluster out and grab the speed sensor wire from behind the cluster, then run it wherever you need.Has anyone installed one of these calibrators? Looking for tips on how to do a good install? The instructions say to run the signal coming out of the vss through the calibrator. Just wondering how people have gone about doing this?
So I saw on the wiring diagram the main signal splices into three different signals. One to the IC, one to a speed control amplifier and the last to the PCM. I guess the only one that needs to be corrected would be the one for the instrument cluster. Is that right? Or should I correct the signal going to all devices?I installed mine in the engine bay.
