Spintech side exit?

Just bought a spintech side exit for my 98’ pairing it with BBK Shorty headers and BBK Off road H pipe. Anyone ever go with one of these side exits from spintech and if so what are your thoughts on sound, performance etc. Drop installation pics if you have them. Trying to figure out where the hanger for the outlet J pipe gets hung as well.

Funny timing that you bring this up. I am currently eye balling a spintech side exit for my car. Post a bunch of pictures of your install, and definitely some videos. I want to know how it sounds and how the drone is.

I have them on my car. They are not super loud if you have cats(I do), with out cats they were just a tad louder than I liked but I could easily see others liking it more. They use the same hanger as the stock exhaust but the tips are not the same as the SVO tips. Only other advice is that you will need special stepped subframe connectors to clear them if you plan on running subframe connectors.

You also have the opportunity to put have someone weld up an electronic cut out to bypass the muffler but still use the same tip, again another custom touch I love on mine.

If you do buy one I will warn you now it takes a bit of time to get to you. I ordered mine June 6th, it just shipped out from them a couple days ago, July 31st. Itll be at my door by August 6th. Theyll tell you itll take 4-6 weeks to ship out but its more than that. Ive saw reviews on it and people like the way it sounds. Will definitely post pics and videos of the install for you

Post pics of you install so I can see what youre talking about where the outlet pipes hang from! Also if you can drop the link for the subframe thing youre talking about. I want this to be 100%. No cutting corners. Even having my friend TIG weld the muffler/outlet pipe and outlet pipe/tip. Also does this work with stock side skirts or would I need the SVO’s with the cut out?

They actually have a tip that is supposed to be shaped just like the opening in the svo skirts. Just have to pick the right one.

I’m considering just ordering the muffler and building my own exhaust.

if you look at the opening to the svo sideskirt it is an oval but it is wider towards the rear than it is in the front. The spintechs from what I have seen are just an regular straight oval output (like the ford logo)that with some slight trimming could probably be made to work. Others have taken the dual 45 degree slash tips and again with some trimming on the skirt again for example tony back in the day did it with his silver mustang I think it was?

I completely forgot I did have to add an exhaust hanger at the tip to hold it in place, with out it the exhaust would flex/turn a bit when you got on it but the stock hanger for the the stock exhaust is used on the spintech set up. I have seen others that use a smaller muffler and then just make a 90 degree turn to go out to the tips and it is a little more simple but you would still be better off adding a hanger for the tip.

Those might be listed as svo tips but I dare ya to try to put them in svo sideskirts with out any modifications. Here is the shape of my tips that are original and needed no modifications to the skirts to fit. Those others can be made to fit as long as the person doing it doesn't mind grinding away part of the skirt.

Honestly to an untrained eye and maybe 20ft away those skirts and tips dont look terrible but oh man would that drive me nuts. ESPECIALLY how beautiful your car is ttocs! That wouldnt play out well.

Back to what you said about the subframe connectors, what special stepped subframe connectors do I need? But you also said “if you plan on running subframe connectors” does that mean i can just take them off without issues? Whats the purpose of them and how crucial would it be if i just removed them?

subframe connectors are just big pieces of steel that are welded to the bottom of the car that prevent the unibody from flexing as much. You can go with out them but if you are adding power and wanting some more handling/performance then they are needed. They basically are along side the frame rails and under the seats from front/rear so when the exhaust cuts over if you do not have the stepped rails the exhaust will either hit it, or you will have to move one/other. I have not looked but I also have not seen the stepped subframe connectors for a while as there was not a huge call for them. A quick check and I don't seem to see them, I think spintech made them as well.

So the outlet pipe had an indent for the subframe connectors, with that being said would I have to remove the subframe connectors or do you think the kit i got will work?

mine is still on jackstands unfortunately as I have been dealing with one medical problem of my own or a family members just one after another for WAY too long. My stomach is killing me this morning as I have been up since 2 am with it. I will try to make a trip down just long enough to clear out the cobwebs and take a few pics to show what I have. I don't think it would be too hard to either modify an existing kit if you know a welder, or to make one if you maybe know an exhaust guy..... I think that kit is just made to hang out in under the stock sideskirt in front of the rear tire, again you would need to trim the svo skirts to fit those tips.

From reading this. I’m assuming he doesn’t have frame rail connectors to start with? That being said if true, throw that exhaust on and if adding them down the road, you know there could be fitment issues.
