When i set my timing to 14 degrees advance and put the spout back in the car idles really rough and even stalls sometimes ive been searching online and tried to reset the iac and even clead it out and the ports it pulls air through which was really dirty but didnt seem to help any...now if I leave the spout removed after i set my timing the car idles fine and even chirps the tires harder into 2nd gear is this ok will it hurt anything if i run without the spout???? also another totally different topic but i have one tire fire goin on im pretty sure my stock rear end should spin both right? now there was a 3.73 gear installed by the previous owner could something be messed up? or worn out or is that just the stock spider gears dont spin both tires???? thanks guys! :headbang:

No. you need it on if not you will be running at 14? all the time. Lower your timing to 12 and try. put It in again. have you done a tune up.

Set the car back to 10 degrees and plug your spout back in. If you don't, the computer can't change your timing or fuel delivery.

Also, you need your trac-lok rebuilt.

Paul.

Well i did the whole idle speed reset by unplugging my idle air control valve and adjusting the idle air bleed screw got the idle to stop surging AS MUCH but still a little bit of a surge but now i have a wicked idle hang when i let off the throttle? ill throw it into neutral while rolling she revs at like 1350 or so untill i come to a complete stop then slowly will fall back to around 700 where i have it set....Wtf lol im about to replace the idle air control do u think could be the problem or is there a way to fix that idle hang?

i fail to see why everyone insists on jacking with the IAC settings.

redo your base idle reset, but this time, while the IAC is disconnected, set the rpm's around 675.

Set your timing back to 10 degrees BTDC, and make sure your TPS is reading between .7v and 1.0v anything higher or lower is wrong.

You may need to check to make sure your balancer hasn't begun to spin. Its a very common problem with our cars.

is 675 normal I guess? Not to jack this but I just swapped my heads/cam and that is what I am idling at and it seems a little low.

Only if you set the timing recently. However, if it is coming apart it needs replacing ASAP. The vibration it will cause will destroy an engine at speed fairly quickly.

675 is normal. The spec is 640 rpm +/- 10.

yes toyman i did just set the timing so im guessing the timings off because the balancer is bad? I did notice with my timing light the numbers didnt line exactly up with the timing marker theyre pushed toward the front a little bit so im guessing thats my problem this whole time huh lol?
