Hey everyone, I've recently noticed that there is a "squeeking" noise coming from my tranny. It's a constant squeeking and increases it's rate with the accelerator depressed. When I push in the clutch a 1/4 or to the floor the noise goes away. Throwout bearing? With the tranny out how much more of a pain is it to install a new one if that is the problem?

also, buy a ford racing heavy duty TOB. they are only a little bit more pricey, but they are well worth it. dont use aftermarket ones. OEM, or FRPP.

If you depress the clutch 1/4 of the way and the sound stops, it's not the TOB itself. Contrary to popular belief, the TOB does not spin until the clutch pedal is depressed and the TOB makes contact with the pressure plate's diaphram spring. Not until noise occurs upon clutch pedal depression (pedal down) would I be pointing to the TOB itself. There could be a small issue with the clutch fork, pivot ball or TOB retaining clips when the pedal is released.

Do you still have the OEM quadrant/cable set-up or aftermarket?

How many miles on the car?

There's right at 100k on the car. There's supposed to be another stock clutch that was put in the car before I got it, however I haven't been able to confirm that.

Like GT said, bearings will not make noise (if they are bad) until they receive load. If the noise is going away when you disengage the clutch, it could be the TO bearing retainer.

What should I buy to be on the safe side when I take the tranny out?

Apparently Napa resurfaces flywheel for free, but we charge 35 dollars so expect to pay up to that.
