Probably a silly question, however, can someone please explain to me how the rear sway bar works on my 98 GT? I Just can't wrap my kind around how the sway bar can have an effect wh3n the solid rear axle is right in front of it, and also connects the control arms together.

The simple answer is that as the body rolls one control arm goes up and the other one goes down. When an anti roll bar is connected to them that bar will twist as the body rolls, resisting the body roll, helping the car to stay flat in the corners.
