Guys how come nobody uses stage 5 cams on sn95's. Most guys do the stage 3 cams and call it a day. Im guessing the stage 5 would require you to do the heads because of the lift so they dont want the expense. But why dont they go with a stage 5 cam? Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
To run a cam that big effectively it takes increased compression, ported heads, lower gears, long tubes, tune, all the good stuff. If you take a stock engine and install a cam with a profile like that itll be a dog until 4K rpm. Its a lot more work that just a cam swap to make a cam that big work effectively.
"Stage" cams are just a marketing gimic. When you get to the point of needing a cam that large, your going to go with a custom grind for what type of power adder you have, compression ratio, head flow rate, rpm range of the engine and how much power you plan to make.
^ Thats right and it just so happens I got a killer deal on the 278's and they fit my bill just right.
I forgot Comp changed their advertising and combined the NPI and PI cams into stages. Used to be: NPI 262H 268H 274H PI 262AH 270AH 278AH So which one is the stage 5? Wouldn't the 278's be a Stage 6 LOL!
haha I had to say it! But seriously, like said a "stage" doesn't really mean anything. One company's stage 5 might be another companies stage 2.
This reminds me of when I was in high school and all the rednecls with their old beat up Chevys would talk about their 3/4 race cam's!!!!! Lol This message courtesy of crapatalk!
Yea...my circle of school buddies would start chanting "foe fifty foe fifty foe fifty foe".....cause sll they talk about was swapping to a 454ci
