will HIDs tax my charging system more?

Nope, standard HID's actually use less power than a typical halogen bulb. Your standard halogen bulb is 55w while an HID only uses 35w. HID's only consume more than 35w on the initial startup to warm up the ballasts.

got both my kits from DDM tuning.

So im assuming you used the 880 HID kit for your fogs then?
