Steering Rack Question!

k, since everyone knows of my steering troubles and brake troubles, if i were to pick up a rack and pinion out of a 2000 mustang, wouild it work with my 98? i just wanna make sure before i buy it and swap it out? does anyone have any ideas? thanks

Pretty sure that all the 94-04 racks are interchangeable. Some are better than others, however.

better? its not a jump up in classes. like its not out a cobra, i'm pretty sure its from a 2000v6 as the guy said. so it would be a jump backwards i guess from my gt to a v6 rack. but i didn't think anything was different. i just wanted to make sure.

Up to certain year (2003 I think), all the cars shared the same rack. In 2003, V6 got a separate rack from a GT/Mach I which got a separate rack from Cobra. They basically vary in steering effort, that's about it. And of course there was 2000 Cobra R rack, but that's a rare piece.

I just had my rack & pinion replaced! It was an manufactured one for my 95 though. That uncltrvlnmatt feller wondered if the one out of his salvaged Mach would work on mine. You might ask him.
