sterio head unit suggestions

hey, my buddy's birthday is coming up and he really wants a new sound system for his tahoe. (or wheels, but im not ballar or anything.)

anyone got a suggestion a pretty decent sterio? i dont want to get him a mediokre (sp?) one, or a shitty one... i him something that can handle quite a bit of other applications (subs, tweeters, etc.) but i dont need a drop down tv, or anything that pimp my ride would do.. .. . .



oh, and i dont understand electronics even a little bit... so telling me about gigabits and electrons wont help me .. .. . ... :tard:

$100-$300.00 (i can try and pool with other friends, so if we all throw 100 bones in the pot.....) or is that a big price range? will $100.00 get me a casette player and $300.00 will get me a java maker that tells the time and plays music?

alpines eh? id like to get him a BNIB one, so that he can take it somewhere to get installed and if there is a problem we can get a warantee and what not.

Right no gigabytes there. Yeah I like to go to any local shops just to get a good visual of the products and see if they will compete with the big box stores and give you a good deal. I like to buy local F wal-mart and best buy.

Yes they do but they sell some cheap brands like dual and jensen. And there isn't any staff to answer any questions all they know how to do is open the glass case that the decks are in. I hope nobody on here works at wally world.

And OP. Alpine is nice however its not #1. There are plenty of good choices out there. Price range is the largest factor. But if you spend 100 bucks its not that great. Online prices, IMO, you can get a decent deck for around 200. It depends on what you want in the stereo. For example, integrated bluetooth or Ipod connectivity via usb.

There is a difference between Built in Bluetooth and Bluetooth ready.

Built in = The Head unit either has an integrated mic that picks up your voice and can connect to your phone for voice calls (some do texts and streaming of music via BT) or it has a remote mountable mic ( Like a Boom Mic, it usually is a better option but more expensive)

Bluetooth Ready = You need to buy something to plug into the deck to let it do the above mentioned.

Now there is not, to my knowledge, a built in sat radio deck. Almost all of them are sat radio ready only.
