Maybe the ect is going bad? I don't think it would cut fire to the car tho.

TFI module? located on the fenderwell by the intake tube unless you've moved it. Try cleaning that off and putting some new dielectric grease on it or maybe just replacing it?

check your engine and ECM grounds. Also, if your car is chipped... make sure it isnt wiggling loose on you.

dont have a chip and already replaced the TFI module with a motorcraft part.

where is the ECM ground? im guessing in the passenger kickpanel with the ECM?
i did notice while doing my head swap that the head wasnt grounded to the body like on most cars.

thanks for the suggestions so far.

the ECM ground is up near the battery, on the radiator support.

make sure you have a ground strap running to the block from the negative battery terminal

Shot outta the dark, have you checked any fuses? Don't know if this could do anything but it seems like it could be overlooked pretty easy

no not yet. this 13* weather in GA and sleating rain kinda slowing me down on it.
worst part is the car is at the quiktrip across the street from my shop. ive already spent over $150 this week on tow bills alone. but might have to do it one more time now that the car is not magically fixing it self so i can finally start testing for the problem.

waiting on a car trailer now. just hope getting it on the trailer doesnt make it start firing again like last time. :angry4:
gonna hook up the lab scope to the ignition and trace down the problem tomorrow.

i had the same thing with my fox...wasnt the ignition at all..bad fuel pump..the stock pump got hot and shut down...after resting for a while it would fire up and run for a few minutes...then shut down..couldnt figure it out..one day it happened as i was passing a gas station and i need fuel so i put fuel in which cooled the pump and it fired right up...so i knew it was that after that.i put a 255 in after that and it never happened again.

yeah its was new to me too. my Snapon MODIS used it as a test of the EEC. after doing a little research and its a common test for ignition diagnostics. got the ecu out today but was to busy to put it back in. should know something monday.
