ok, new motorcraft ignition module (TFI), new distributor and PIP, new ignition coil, and now a new EEC and still no fire with the spout in. i do this for a living and have never had to spend this much time on one car. im guessing because its mine.....

anyone ever had a problem with an ignition switch? i dont see it being the prob since i have 12v at the coil and dist. but im running out of things to replace lol

Could the spout connector itself be bad? Maybe there's a short in the wiring to the connector?

I have no expertise, just spit-balling here, but it may be worth a look.

The spout connector is just a short - it joins two wires, so can't be bad. BUT I think you may have a point. If the wiring going to the spout connector or in anyway connected to it has a short, then when you insert the spout you are making a short instead of the connection you should be making.

You may have come up with something else to try perhaps. Check the power/signal at the spout against a perfectly running car and see if you have a short etc.

honestly I would start looking at the ignition switch, I have seen those go bad. essentially it could be as though your turning the key off. also I would look for an aftermarket alarm that may have been there at one point. just tossing some ideas out there.

But none of that explains why it works fine with the spout connected. Assuming only one thing fails at a time, I would start looking at the spout wiring as mentioned.

Found the problem and it all makes sense now. At first the car only dropped fire when my friend would ride in the passenger seat. So ofcourse I kept telling him he was messing up lol but in a sense he was

This is the wiring harness in the passenger fender. With the added weight on the passenger side the harness was laying on the tire and wore through.

I feel in some way victorious in that I suggested wiring - something connected to the spout connector symptom.

Appreciation in cash, cheque or bank transfer!!!! lol
