So far ive replaced the water pump, radiator, thermostat (3 times) and flushed it countless times and it still runs hot.
Its never overheated but i can feel it running hot. I had a 180* thermostat and it would go a little past the M.
But ive replaced the radiator and installed a 195* in the process. I listened to the parts guy since he started talking about the computer not liking the 180* too much.
But now, with this heat, the needle goes past the A and it stays there. Any ideas before i take it to the shop. I'd hate to do that because im the only guy whos worked on it since ive had it. Thanks

install a water temp gauge its pretty accurate and at highway it should be 180-190 oin the city it should be 200-210.

Yeah the fans come on right when they should (at least i think so) around mid point. A temp gauge is an option as of now, cause im running out of 'em.

I swapped out the 195* for a 180* and it helped a little but not much. Also, it wasnt as hot today. What would removing the shroud do?

I did the thermostat first cause i still had the old 180* one. I havent messed with the sensor yet. The only time the car starts to get hot is when i get on it. As soon as the rpm's come down, so does the temp. Does anyone have an idea?

i had this issue with tstats' sticking. i also found a cause of that was the coolant tank cap wasnt venting causing it to boil over. now another question i may ask is are you using water or antifreeze? water will corrode and make the system get hotter.

Im running coolant, never ran straight water. Maybe some water wetter one time. Ive replaced the t-stat a few times now thinking one might be defective. I havent changed the cap though, something to look at too.

observe the coolant and look for sludge or oil. i would also look for water pump seepage at the bottom of the pulley at a weep hole.

did you put any white face gauges on your car or anyone before?

let me clarify! I know exactly what DirtySnowBall302 is refering to!

I did a white face conversion on my 90Gt they were NOT overlay's which meant that the needle's and the original faces had to come off! The only problem with that is that these needles are set in place and calibrated! removing them and replacing them sometimes causes the needles to be a bit off!!!

So if you have white faces check to see if the are replacement faces or overlays! this may be part of the problem

If they are overlay's move on to getting a temp gauge ( I have an automer phantom mechanical water temp gauge full sweep 0-280 complete w/ attached temp probe $45 shipped sell's for about $90 new...

I did install white face gauges, as a matter of fact, a couple times. It could be the needle is not calibrated but the coolant light comes on and i can feel the heat coming in.
I guess the next thing to do is replace the radiator cap(eventhough i looks good) and the hoses and see where that puts me. then i'll install a temp gauge for piece of mind
I need to figure this out before the summer ends. Dont wanna deal with this next year too.

could it be that your hoses are old and when you jump on it the collapse, restricting flow?

I dont have to add coolant, suprisingly the reservoir is always full. Im thinking it is the hoses or cap. Its never overheated so i doubt its the heads but you never know.

I think i'll take the cheap route and replace the hoses and update you guys for future reference.
