Just as the title says! I have been hearing conflicting info, and wanted to ask you guys... What does (should) a bone stock 94-95 Cobra run in the 1/4 mile?
Well they were not much stronger than a GT so Im guessing low 14's and mabye the rare high 13 with a great driver.
the stock 94-95 cobra is *rated* at 14.8 seconds. If you drive like me, you can pull a 14.1 out of your ass. This of course is with everything stock.... cats too. a set of gears, exhaust, cold air intake, maf, and MAYBE a TB (the stock 65mm is big enough) you can look at mid 13s, maybe even lower
Stock TB size is actually a 60mm. The 65mm was on the 93' Cobras. I've seen a stock 95' Cobra at commerce with only bumped timing and an air filter run a 13.5 on DR's. Not bad, but thats not 100% stock either. With basic mods, a cobra can come alive very easily. Stock they have the timing of a Buick, have FOUR cats, a pos paper filter, horrible gearing, headers that are uber restrictive. Do the basics and you'll be knocking on 12's door.
well i felt like double checking because i hate innacurate information. the opening on the back of the TB measures to 65mm, however the butterfly itself is only 59.8mm (digital micrometer) of course.... i could have had it at a small angle.... but not enough to warrant a 5mm discrepancy. so anyway.... now i know why my car DID benefit from swapping up to a 70mm TB
my car was stock and i ran a 14.1 on street tires car was completely stockand i kno i could have pulled a 13.9 but my 60ft wasnt that good
I have a 95 gt with rebuilt t-5, swapped gt ecu for a cobra ecu. New cobra motor was built and put in. It has a gt40 intake, gt40p heads, and a fms b cam. A 65mm throttle body, 70mm mass air, cold air, ud pullies, msd, ford racing wires, shorty headers, flowmaster 40 series with a offroad h pipe. limited slip rearend, 373 gears, and 255/45/17 all the way around. Never ran on track and I dont know what it has horsepower wise, or time wise. If anyone has an idea let me know. And also feel free to let me know what my next upgrades should be.
you car is much like my 95 was when the stock 5.0 went south. I got a 5.0 Cobra motor out of a wrecked 95, along with the computer for a total of 2000 ( I'll never forget that experience :) Anyway you didn't say if the short-block was stock or not.......so I will assume it is. You have just the basic bolt-ons for a 5.0 and minimal bolt-ons for a Cobra motor so, I would say flywheel HP around 255-265 or so :dunno: Not exactly positive of how well those heads flow, but I think my guess should be close. AS far as et's with what you have 13's should be there, in fact my best with my 95 was a 13.20 with a good old G-Tech :. Like I said mine was a lot like yours, gears / Cobra motor / regular bolt-ons exhaust, pulleys, coldair and so on. So I would expect mid 13's or better with sticky tires and KICK ASS driving.
With exhaust, gears, and bolt ons a 94/95 Cobra can hit high 12's on the right track/weather/driver. So figure mid to high 13's bone stock, both gmkillr and JackieChan (stangnet members) hit high 12's with the mentioned mods above.
Those are consistant numbers for them, the funny thing is JackyChan drags @Orlando speed world also known as Orlando Spin Wolrd cause it sucks.
