Just another broke 21 year old college student build. Purchased the car bone stock my freshmen year when I was 18...I told myself I wasn't going to pour any money into it...well so much for that.

How I got her[I added the CAI]..

then well..260rwhp pleased me only for so long

So I swapped to 03 heads and COMP cams #106400

note:That isn't me in the picture

I assembled the longblock myself and did all the work out of my garage with limited tools..actually managed to pull the engine and tranny WITHOUT a leveler and extremely low ceiling clearance [it was interesting to say the least]

So it took me a full week to pull the engine..tear it down..rebuild the entire top half of it, and reinstall it and get it running again.

First time it held Idle
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR6Sp-hIeIg

made 326rwhp [NO BOLT ONS, simple head and cam swap only] being shut off at 5900 with some issues needing to be taken care of

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tfdg8NXp8wo

So that was a fun setup for a while and I was absolutely loving the idle!

But the fun only last for sooo long....

Then I was at it again..wanting more and to regain some lost TQ down low from the cams

So it was time for some fun bolt ons!

Which basically included headers, M55 mufflers, o/r x pipe, march fluid damper, tubular k-member, cai, intake spacer, and a retune

The setup laid down 380RWHP/365TQ!

I also did the swap to COPs, swapped to manual steering&brakes, deleted the AC, a LOT of weight reduction.

Never got the setup dialed in..especially since i was still on crappy DRs, stock shifter, and 3.27s! But I managed 113-114mph traps all day long!

Then one night at the track..the stock T45 finally gave out [but she held up for 240,000 miles!]

So that meant me pulling an all nighter swapping in another T45 [I actually ended up passing out for about an hour underneath the car at one point, lol]

As for the exterior of my car..this is what it looked like at that point when cleaned up..

Loved this combo..and was an absolute blast and pulled hard ALLL the way to the fuel cutoff @ 7100rpms despite the tired 241k mile shortblock!

But once again..I wanted MOAR!....

So this is where things get exciting for me..

My next step is to throw a CARBURETOR on my car..finally put some REAL gears in it..along with an adequate fuel system[I maxed out my injectors on my previous tune]..proper suspension..and rip MORE weight out of it [current is almost 28xxlbs and I want to see 27xx!] and then drive it like I want to break it!

The goal here is to be the most powerful, fastest, and quickest NA Stock Shortblock Modular car [current records are respectively, 410rwhp..126mph and 10.79[which was done 200lbs heavier than me and only 384rwhp]

Starting the process of removing all the un necessary things..
25693_351232919947_656049947_4849043_7259787_n.jpg

and now time to rip the interior apart to remove sound deadening, insulation, wires, and also to help wire the car back up..

remove a few things..
38643_455940769947_656049947_6315688_7313986_n.jpg

then some more..
39792_456024614947_656049947_6319665_7727866_n.jpg

39624_456355379947_656049947_6329718_5442589_n.jpg

and then I just got crazy with it..

buhbye wiring and COMPUTER!

RETIRED! In favor of a custom instrumental panel setup..

Something similar to this..

the hood that I am going with..lift off 5"

I think my car can pull it off decently..with the s281 wing and stance..I think it will flow well. Don't really have much of an option..It is going to take a good size cowl to fit everything I need under the hood

Also for a fuel system I have an A1000 with braided lines and my rear end is full spool, 33 spline, 4.56s, TA girdle and will have the tubes welded.

Battery relocation kit was installed..you can see the cable running through here..
61324_472718729947_656049947_6715251_6835370_n.jpg

and when I pieced the interior together 3 hours later..

Like i mentioned, the instrument cluster is getting a florida 5.0 setup..the center console will be custom, [3 gauges, switchboard, and FAST dual wideband setup], and where the passenger air bag USED to be..is where I will be mounting my ignition system

My coolant setup will be 100% custom with braided lines as well and I have full tubular drag suspension waiting to go in.

andddd..probably my favorite picture..here is my fuel system mounted up

The carburetor I will be going with for the moment [while NA] a Holley 650 w/ ProForm main body

I still haven't gotten it all put back together yet..but I have already been planning my next step for the past few months...

Okay..so now for me to explain the True Street build that is planned for this summer.

I landed a job at a performance shop/race team in the midwest..so now we are building my car into an absolute STREET TERROR.

Building and spec'ing the engine to perfection. It will still be a 4.6L. Pairing that up with a ProCharger F2M going through a custom blow-through carburetor. The air will be kept cool via air-to-water intercooler

This will be going through an auto [most likely a C4].

The car will meet NHRA safety standards on every aspect..including a fully caged car [much more involved than a 10pt]..custom shocks/struts on all four corners..and with a parachute mounted out back.

Car will definitely be capable of low 8s...we are HOPING to see a 7.9x if the stars in the sky line up properly.

well anyways..here is the full list of mods for everything I have in hand NOW for my NA portion..a lot of stuff will get redone for the ProCharger.

Engine:
-Stock shortblock
-Custom aluminum sheet metal intake, built to spec for my car by MVP Performance
-03 heads
-Stage 2 COMP cams
-COMP valve springs and retainers
-Electric water pump
-Hooker long tubes, o/r X, M55s dumped
-ProForm 1" carb spacer
-Holley 650 w/ ProForm main body
-March fluid damper
-King cobra clutch

Fuel:
-Sump [twin -8AN]
- -8AN feed
- -8AN return
-A1000 Fuel pump
-A1000 Carb regulator
-Jegs -8AN fuel log
-Aeromotive fuel filters

Rear end:
33-spline moser axles
Full spool
TA diff cover
4.56 gears
3" studs
welded axle tubes

Suspension:
Manual steering rack & brakes
QA1 k-member
UPR fox length a-arms
D&D motorsports coil overs up front
KYB adjustable shocks/struts all around
custom full length subframe connectors
c/c plates of unknown brand
eibach drag springs out back
Steeda lower control arms
Upper control arms [still waiting to pick up a set]

Weight Reduction:
...honestly it is wayyy too much to sit here and list.

Haha..you're the kind of person thats never pleased..are ya?? lol

I was actually going to be building a NA monster for the longest time..almost built a 600rwhp 5.3L of ridiculousness. However I was teased with the idea of going stupid fast..and well..that is hard to say 'no' to!

The other idea I had was to build my car into a NMRA Pure Street car...I think it would be an absolute blast slamming gears through a proshifted/faceplated T5 and running low 10s NA!

One reason why I wasn't a fan of power adders to begin with is because I don't like how a lot of people go about it. The supercharger would merely hide all the imperfections of an engine and chassis setup. 600rwhp Cobras still in the 11s made me -facepalm-. I'll be doing this the right way,and will be squeezing every bit of ET and MPH out of the horsepower I will be making..and doing this all on drag radials.

Its not that im not ever happy, just I like na stuff, I like 2v's and like doing thigns the hard way. Your build is good, your theory is good, parts and plan is good, just not something I would do.

I still give you more credit above 90% of the cars i see here daily.

I'm just poking :p To each their own..which is the great thing about this hobby..there are millions of different ways every can go about their car to get what THEY want!

I'm in the same boat as you..I enjoy handicapping myself and going faster than most that follow the 'trend'. Hence why I am currently seeing how fast I can go NA with the stock shortblock..instead of throwing on a small vortech or procharger like most people do and make 500rwhp to go high 11s.

When I toss on the ProCharger..I will be competing in a class that is dominated by turbo'd pushrod notches, so I again will be the going against the grain with a supercharged 4.6L.

The way I see it [and I am sure you will probably agree with me] is that since you are going to throw so much money and time into a car and build..why do what EVERYONE does?? I'm not about to spend thousands of dollars just to BLEND in..eff that! I'll pave my own path! :p

There are people who have done what I have done, there are people who ran faster then me, there are people who made more power but for 300 wheel with a full interior and stock rear end/clutch and a12.6 isnt bad. All I want from mine is an 11.0 pass, with a 281 and 2v heads ... thats all I want. Dial it back and run a 11.50 index race.

I'm actually just a broke college student...the heads/cams/bolt ons were basically funded from a summer of working at wal-mart.

The carb swap/rear end/suspension/fuel was paid for while I was a sushi chef and profit from flipping car parts.

The 8 second True Street build is basically happening because of my new job..however I do pride myself on researching everything..when I dont have a big budget I have to make sure I spend my monies wisely. For instance the True Street build has been in the mixup for the past 6 months and building...this morning we decided to go with a non-intercooled setup instead of A/W.

Yup..it was a local car from Orlando and averaged 8.6 ..which is where the typical overall winner runs, although someone this year ran three 8.0s!

nuuuts! lol

Some of those cars are just absolutely ridiculous..every year they get quicker and quicker.

We are really trying to see if I can squeeze out a 7.9 in the quarter..I figured if we can get the car capable of high 7s [or as close to it as possible] on an ideal test&tune night..then with having to cruise 30 miles & making 3 passes..I should hopefully be a contender for taking a win at an event.

It is really hard to say realistically how fast the setup will go...very few guys running the F2M and have completely different setups than what I have in plan..but the F2/F2M has been capable of taking 4.6L cars into the 7s.

I won't have any updates for a while [I'm spending a month in Montana with the girlfriend] but I'll be sure to keep you guys up to speed! Always changing our minds on little things, learn new stuff every day!

No physical updates done on the car yet .. [still in Montana]

However a few more changes for the True Street build..

going with a ProCharger F2 instead of the F2M..ditching the 8.8" rear for a FAB9 so I won't have a spool to deal with on the streets.

Also, decided to run the car more widespread..so I'll be traveling with the cobra & race car..planning on being kept busy with running a bunch of events. 2011 will be exciting!

Acquired the F2! I'll have better pictures of the impeller side when I get the chance. I won't be using the cog setup & bracket..just the head unit. Going to be using a superior gear drive setup.

for those of you unfamiliar with a gear drive setup...here is an example of a F2 on a 4.6

superchargergeardrive.jpg

and also..for size comparison of a F2..i found this.

It is ridiculous how much air that thing can flow..2700cfm!

So I will have to be running two of the big red BOVs to prevent surging @ idle and low engine speeds.

..then I'll have to build the engine [especially heads&cams] to be able to handle all of that air flowing into and out of it. Scary thing is...planning on pushing close to 40# of boost through her.
