My car has developed a clicking noise that i can only hear when im on the gas and moving. While driving if I take my foot of the gas the noise goes away. Cant hear the noise at idle or when parked reving the car. car still runs fine and shifts fine but does feel a little rough at highway speeds. motor sounds nice and healthy and the exhaust note has not changed. oil is full, just changed last week. Just cant seem to track down the noise....any ideas? thanks

Ok try this to help diagnose the noise
Drive the vehicle as you hear the noise depress the clutch pedal but keep the rpms the same and tell me what happen

If the noise doesnt change see if its related to wheel speed (louder faster with faster you go)

this will tell us if its engine or wheel.tire. drive line related.

Drove the car with the noise present, put the clutch in and stayed on the gas and the noise stopped. noise also stops when just letting of the gas. It does get faster as speeds increase but does not get any louder.

this will tell us if its engine or wheel.tire. drive line related.

Subscribed. I hear that same clicking noise as well and I have an auto. Mine sounds like it's coming from the passenger side behind the dash but I don't know. I've been driving with it for the past 6k or 7k miles and haven't had any problems with it.

We decided that the noise is only when the clutch is ENGAGED (foot off the pedal) and sooo when your driving *****when the noise is happening and in a SAFE SPOT***** put the car in neutral and turn the key off and see if the onise stays

*******************be careful****************************************

this wil just confirm that the noise is clutch related and that its not engine related.

Ok Duff, did what you said and the noise stopped when the car was turned off. I found this vid that features the same exact sound im experiencing, however mine is only when the car is moving and im on the gas. Turned out to be the pivot ball on the clutch fork for the guy in the vid. if it did turnout that I have the same problem do I have to drop the trans to replace the pivot ball? here the vid
