So I have some random CAI pieces that I've found fit wonderfully on my '96 Cobra... without Mass Air. Is there any way to bypass it or am I going to have to grind off the bolt holes so I can slip a rupper coupler over it? I've seen CAI kits that look as if there is no Mass Air, but I believe it has been "relocated" or something of that nature.

Are you asking if you can use a cai with no spot for the Mass air sensor?

No, you need that for the car to run....unless your car is speed density, which it is not.

I'm not going up that far, I'm only going to the coupler that the Mass Air fits into. I guess I'll fire up the grinder...

Helps distribute the incoming air as it passes thru the MAF sensor. You don't want a high velocity "jet stream" on one side of the MAF and a slower stream of air on the other side. Thats what occurs in the bends of the intake tubing.

Oh, helps the gas mileage too.

If your intake is a straight shot like the JLT RAI for example it actually tells you to remove the screen.

If you have a bend before your maf or a fenderwell intake than I guess that may be the case.

I doubt that screen would make any significant differance anyways

It does help distribute the incoming air, just like that bar in the middle of some MAF's.

I found some MAF adapters online today. I'll be able to keep the screen and all the bolt holes :).
