Sub frame connectors

Anyone have pics of the undercarriage w/ them welded in? preferably full length ones? im wondering how i can have side exhaust with them(pry goin custom anyway)

hurmm I know back in the fox world everyone had them I sorta forgot about these lol not sure if many ppl use them on the 94-98s? if your going to get custom side exhaust it shouldnt matter, but a kit would probably run into troubles.

hmmm i have no clue on the side exhaust i dont like it so its not really a concern for me ...my sugestion would be to get subframes with the seat braces.... if you get subframes

I have heard of very few cars running subframes AND side exhuast, it's like on of the other... A lot of people run subframes in the '94-'98 cars, it helps stiffen it up an asston... well worth the money in my opinion... but like i said, don't know that you can run subframes AND side exhuast, unless you have the exhuast custom built, even then it would be smashed to fit over top the subframes and not bottom out.

The sub-frames are something I need to look into also. Dont mean to rob the thread but when you weld in the subframes do you have to be cautious about when welding on the floor pan? What im trying to say is do I need to remove any interior pieces for when I weld the subframes in?

I do believe no matter the time, be it weld or bolt, obviously with weld, you'll have to weld, but with Bolts, i believe you have to drill for them. I would go with welded, less flex, a bolt even a high grade, will still have flex in it.

I have subs and they only stick down like 1 inch. Here a a couple photos. You can see the exhaust hangs lower than the subs. I thin the side exhaust will come off the connection in the first pic behind the prochamber and there is plenty of clearance.

Nah... You can weld them in without removing the carpet. The key is to make small welds and nor do all the welding on one side at a time. There is really only about 8 places on each SFC that need to be welded. Do some 3/4 inch welds at a time and your all set.

If you look close at mine we welded small plates then welded the subs to them. And even with stainnless exhaust the welds rust

hehe, i will be removing ANY and ALL interior when i get my SFC welded in, i saw a thread on SVTPerf where a guy almost had his mach burned up by interior lighting on fire. IMO its asking for trouble. And Trav whats this about seat braces? I think that welded subframes are the only way to go, full length too. Otherwise its just not worth it. I WILL have side exhaust and i WILL have SFC, its just a matter of how to do it. I have to find an exhaust shop that will weld me and exhaust that doestn have cats....BBK longtubes + O/R X + SLP shotgun resonators = :rockyou: haha i cant wait. Stevo, what brand are your SFC?

I welded my MM SFC's without removing the interior. If you look at where you weld to, most of the places are on the factory "sub-frames" which actually sit below the floorpan. The thing that you will have to watch out for are the brake and fuel lines on the passengers side.

When I pull the carpet out, I'll inspect the floor pan and underlay for burn marks (and can post pics if req'd)

Don't waste your money on bolt-in SFC's, if you're going to do it, do it right. And I agree with trav_19, get the ones with seat braces (MM), I just unbolted my seat braces (new seats) and the back end gets loose easier coming out of a corner.

Get weld in, since Kenny Brown stopped production, the MM full length are the best you can get. I've never heard of anyone removing the interior for anything other than through the floor ones. You don't even need to remove the seats, just the nut's I think.

yeah the seat brace ones you unthread the nuts and they go on then the nuts go on holding and bracing the seats its nice...if you do them do the best O0
