just a general question for you guys..

you all know I have had ups and downs with my car.. mainly more downs than ups haha.. but ive been running the forged motor now for a year and its still running strong. hope to finally have an engine that will last. anyways, you all also probably know I have an S-trim that has just been sitting on my shelf for nearly 2 years. its fitted for a 99-01 cobra but i have the correct intake elbow for my car and other odds and ends to make it work for my 98.

with that being said, how long will this install take do you guys think? i have every part, just needs to be installed. im figuring the longest part will be getting the oil pan tapped and installing the fuel pump. any ideas how long this supercharger install will take?

i really need to get it on. i have ~150-170whp sitting on my shelf... hah fail.

A couple days. The fuel pump shouldn't take more than a couple hours. I've never tapped a pan before but I couldn't imagine it would be all that time consuming. Most manufacturers quote supercharger install times at 5+ hours with all the components. But we all know that nothing goes perfectly.

about 8 hours. the majority of the time will be as you already know the pan and fuel pump

if you dont already have them download the instructions off of vortech's site. i would recommend buying the tap and punch ahead of time as they are odd ball sizes and could be a issue picking them up locally.

it will take about 1/2 day to install i did my procharger install in about 8 hours but it took longer than i thought because i changed all my 6 rib pullies over to 8 rib ones... i did have a full days time in the install but i did an AFM inline pump, along with several other things meth kit.. but you can easily put it on in a days time. The biggest thing on the vortech kits is just tapping the oil pan for it..

Give it a weekend for all those unexpected things that always pop up. If you did it every day of the week, you could slap it on there quick, not much to it, but you'll be going slow taking your time to make sure you don't f anything up.

agreed, also make sure you have an extra pair of hands that is probably the best thing to have when you start the install

okay cool guys, thanks for the responses. everything you all said is what i figured. Ill have a bunch of hands most likely (friends) but me and my dad definitely will be able to knock this out. we are very mechanically inclined so I am not worried about it taking too long. It's just I have never swapped a fuel pump and I cannot weld so I am going to need to have someone tap my oil pan. I have an extra oil pan off my old motor though so I will have that one tapped most likely (small dent in the pan so we will see, doesn't leak). other then that though, everything you all said is what I was figuring.

I think I can do it in a day but there is always those unexpected issues you dont think of, some of which I think I already know I will run into. Thanks guys!

Yeah you can do it in a weekend taking your time. Ive taken mine off so much now I could do it all in about 4 hours. The fuel tank doenst really take that long. Here is a tip go ahead and order a spare gas tank filler neck grommet as they tend to rip when u drop the tank. then youll have a leak if you put more then half a tank in it.

to do injectors, intank pump, oil pan tap, and bolt the head unit/bracket on will take at the most a weekend.

another tip i can give is if you have an aftermarket belt tensioner you should go buy a FORD or duralast unit. the gates tensioner and every other units i've tried (from local parts stores) are built thicker and hit the supercharger bracket.

the tap is hard to find, punch i made (DONT DRILL)
