I have a 94GT that someone swapped over to 96-98 style tail lights. I'd like to go back to horizontals if I can find a set; will they mate right up with the harnesses I've got now, or will I also need to find a 94-95 wiring harness?

Also if anyone has rio red horizontal tail lights lying around and wants to switch to vertical lights, I am down to trade:cool:

I dont think so, but i have no idea either. But good decision on switching them back! As much as i like the vertical taillights and want to do sequential, i think the horizontal fit the body style better. I decided to keep my original 94 instead of swapping them.

This question depends on previous owner. If he was lazy he mightve just rigged the last bulb to fit the light with duck tape. If he did this then no you wont need a new harness.
If he did.. you'll be fine and the harness is still the original 94-95.. just with tape.

here is my lights.. see the bulb on the far left. If that one is small like that then you have a 94-95 harness.
Same amount of bulb are used on the 94-98 stangs

I will have to get in there and check tomorrow. CC I'd be interested in buying them if I need them

twista is right but I think he may mean that little bulb on the left. the 96-96 tails use 4 of the same larger bulb while the 94/95s have a little bulb thrown in on the end.

Alright I know for a fact that all my bulbs are the same size, which means I've got the 96-98 harness. Damn. If I ever find the original owner of this car I'm going to punch them in the mouth for this and the many other things they did to this poor car.

No thanks--my car is Rio Red, though it would look 90s-tastic to have a red car with Yellow accents...or maybe I'd just look like I really like McDonalds

There's a guy near me on CL parting out a 94GT with black horizontals. If I can't find any rio red in the next couple days I'm going with those.

Do what i did. Just go to a junk yard and get the 94-95 harness. Hell if you want just cut the bulb wiring and connector you need and just splice it into your 96-98 harness. I spliced mine in and soldered it and it works perfect.

My orginal 94-95 harness is still intact though since i got another harness with the junkyard lights

To each his own, I like the way the horizontals make the rear end look wider. I also think they're pretty unique looking. I honestly don't mind the verticals, but I like the horizontals for the quirky styling.
