Had the car professionally cleaned handful of weeks ago. Sat since then due to shoulder surgery. Good enough now to get after it myself, so I bought the Adam’s “swirl killer” polisher and compound+polish kit. Just hit everything north of the door line with the compound (twice in some areas) then the polish. Finally, swirls-be-gone! :)

I have had some cleaners/graphine polishes popping up on my feed and I finally bit on one the other day. I think it arrives today.

The Adam’s polisher and compound combo is killer for swirls especially on neglected paint. Taking your time and hitting trouble spots twice makes all the difference. Now that it’s smooth, a good sealant or wax will keep it looking fresh. Hope the shoulder holds up detailing’s a workout! Post some before/after shots if you can.

I've been using nothing but Adam's products since we met him at HAN in 2000. He actually came over to our cars (Cobra's) and did my buddy's BLACK finish in direct sunlight at 98deg, then said, "oh, don't do this in direct sunlight". We all laughed, but the car came out excellent. We all bought 5gal buckets with his products. I still have my bucket! Very personable guy too, just like in his video's.

I did use the Polish that came with the Basic Kit immediately after using the Compound and I did so panel by panel: A-Pilar’s/sails/roof 1st; hood 2nd; trunk & spoiler 3rd, etc.

Funny you mentioned a final layer of sealant or wax. I was of the same mindset so I emailed Adam’s and asked about a “buffing” or finishing pad to get that last % of shine on it. They were terrific and suggested a foam pad (though I was anticipating a cloth pad of some sort) and even offered to either set up a phone call directly with me OR email me with some options. Pretty darn good customer service, IMO++

Worth noting: the 2 different pads I used that came with the Basic Kit (1 for the Compound; 1 for the Polish) cleaned up really well and easily with warm the supplied pad scrubber, warm water and Dawn dish soap. I just hit each 3-4x, rinsed, squeezed until came out looking brand new again. May seem an insignificant detail but I was happy to see these are reusable and not the cheaply “one use, disposable” pads. Kind of a rub to have to keep buying pads over and over after each use. And it’s not about the cost, but more about the quality. Hope that made sense! And hope I didn’t get too long in the tooth.

Cheers!

Wow - nice looking paint!

Seeing yours reminds me of just how bad the paint on mine has gotten... :-(

Did you use an orbital polisher?

Looks awesome man! I have dabbled in light paint correction since 2004 or so. It all about the random orbiter. Nothing better than bringing back some shine to some old paint!

Sounds like you’ve got a solid process down panel-by-panel is the way to go. Adam’s customer service is top-notch, and their foam pad recommendation should give you that extra shine. Good call on cleaning the pads properly; it’s great when quality tools hold up. Keep up the great work your ride’s looking sharp, Cheers.
