I was thinking about swapping my t-45 for a t-56 tranny. I think the synchros are bad on my t-45. It wont shift into 5th gear unless i let the rpm's come down to 2k. Are there any advantages to the t-56? Or am i just better off getting the same transmission? thanks

Viper spec has a 2.66 first, and .50 sixth, as opposed to a 2.97 first and .62 sixth in the others. T5/45 are 3.37 and .67

I was getting ready to do a t56 swap and have all the swap parts together but I'm having trouble getting enough money together for the t56. The place I was going to buy my trans from is sold out. Now the best price I can get is about $2200 for a new t56. I'm considering talking to J.R. about an auto now. I'm going to miss shifting so bad but I think I might be okay with an auto and a hammer shifter.

what kinda car are you trying to build... im personal with my manual...

manual= strip/street
auto= hard core strip

in my opinion :)

how much did you spend on all the parts? i may be interested in picking them up from you if you do go through with the auto swap.

If you were talking to me, I had originally planed to turn my car into a road course car but the more I think of it, a 96-98 mustang is not the best thing to start with for that IMO. I think a fox coupe would be a better choice. I just added up the cost to swap to an auto and I'm not to far off from a brand new t56 ($2000). So i think I'll stay with my original plans. Who knows.
