just got done painting an extra pair of 94-95 taillights gloss black, so i can replace the blackouts on my car, with single stage black paint. Will get pics when i get them installed but was wondering. Should i put a coat of clear on these also? or does it matter?

If the paint is gloss you should probably sand it before clearing otherwise it probably wont last.
well really it's in between a gloss and flat if that makes any since at all. It is not smooth like a car would be but it is'nt entirely black either. I think it would best if i hit it with a couple coats of clear but i'm gonna talk to the guy at the paint shop first to make sure thats what i should do. The stuff actually says bumper coater on the can but works for all plastics in one stage, no primer is needed so i did'nt know if i needed clear or not.

i would lighly sand it with fine grit (600 ish) and put a coat or 2 of clear

Yeah, I'd wet sand them before you put them on, then hit them w/ a coat of clear.
