HOLE E crap. Woodgrain? AWESOME!

Does it do it all the time or does it stop after it runs for a few minutes?

the motor was rebuilt and only has around 1,000 miles on it, and the ticking is all the time

oil is good, i think it might be timing chain because idle jumps at time

That doesnt sound like a timing chain problem. Does sound like the valve lash adjusters though. Sounds just like my buddies Terminator and thats what it was.

Idle could be the IAC. Take it off and clean it. If it helps a little bit, go ahead and replace it because cleaning it only delays it a little.

no need for a shop to replace the iac. you can do that. 2 minutes.

a shop will need a few days for lash adjusters.

yup.

it's the sensor on the intake pipe. unplug it, remove it, New one in, plug it in, throw old one away.

last I checked you can get one from auto zone for about 20.00 or a genuine food one for about 50.00

Mine was making a similar noise a couple months ago and I found it was just a couple of loose header bolts. Tightened them up and in 5 mins it was gone.

I had a shop install some heads on mine to watch it burn in on the dyno. Shtuff happens all the time but start simple before you start tearing things apart. If its that loud and the headers loose you should be able to find it pretty quickly as mine was about the same. I found one bolt almost ready to fall out and the other nut was missing. Sound almost the same as mine really.

A bad spark plug wire can also cause a clicking noise but its a different kind of noise though. More electronic as what happens is the signal arch's across the bad area and you will hear it pop more then click.
