there is a high pitched squeak coming from around that area, ive removed the other pulleys so i'm assuming this has to be it. when i look at it, it only looks like the one bolt in the center

Are you talking about the idler pulley (near the water pump) or the pulley on the belt tensioner?

The idler in the timing cover is easy, the one on the tensioner is too but I took the tensioner off the car, wedged it in a cinder block, then loosened the bolt holding on the pulley. I suppose a table vise or something would get it done too...

I just changed mine. You can't get just the pully. You have to buy the whole tensioner. If I remember right, it was about 80 bucks. I went to 2 different Ford dealers, they both told me the same thing. I ended up nuying a tensioner from Advance Auto.

i'll just hit up one of the auto wreckers out here and grab one off a 4.6

IMO, with something like this you are better off new. The belt tensioner takes a constant beating.

Perhaps the 4V is different but I bought two idler pulleys, and simply unbolted the old idler from the tensioner and replaced with a new one. The idler on the tensioner is the same part as the one in the timing cover.

Nonetheless +1 on replacing the tensioner, I took the cheap way out...

I have a squealing noise I can't find either. Although mine sounds like it is coming from the alternator but it sounds fine? Did it squeal all the time?

I suspected my alternator too, and yes mine did squeak all the time. Replacing the idlers fixed the problem. (And boy was I glad I didn't have to pony up for a new alternator!)
