Post #37 on page 2 for updates

Alright guys I've been working on this with my oldest brother at our shop for the last few weeks and it's been going as smooth as can be!

I didn't make a thread and update it frequently as I wasn't sure whether you guys would be interested in that type of thing. We have more projects coming up soon so if this stuff grabs your interests we'd love to share!!

After a failed family partnership I decided to convert our shop to all mustangs (won't release name or information on here as we're not sponsors of sn95forums.com just YET) and a bitter-sweet event took place during this process..

My buddy got this beast, 3.4 whipple, e85, etc..

New front fender bolted on

Unfortunately I wasn't in town for the scoop delete, my brother and our welder Jeff got started on the delete without me  due to my absence during the time I don't have much pics but I've got some I'll dig them up from my phone

We used absolutely the least amount of bondo, my brother mastered this job like no other and I can't be more impressed with it. He utilized all the natural lines of the quarter panel with the help of a delete plate and used a very thin layer of bondo to smoothen out all the grinding, even the weakest magnet will stick to the car in this area.

We borrowed our neighbor's low overspray osha approved spray gun, thing is pretty awesome it's like a wagner for automotive paint but it's definitely not a wagner lol anyway we shot the door jams here to save time as we rented a spray booth to paint the car.

The paint we're using:

Blue? When was it blue, looks like purple to me! haha, this looks much better than the grape kool aid that was on it previously....

i can appreciate the amount of work and engineering in the side scoop delete, but it's not my cup o' tea. since the body line slopes downward it just seems to be out of place without a scoop. the red sure does pop though. I also concur that you need to post up the rest of this project and any others!!

how long did it end up taking you guys to get this far?

I think it looks a million times better in red.

Do you have any #s for this car? I can't even imagine what monstrous numbers its putting down with a 3.4 whipple and e85.

Well it all kind of started off when we sat down and started tossing ideas around after the quarter panel got replaced, my buddy kind of had a down moment and hadn't realized how serious I was about fixing the car until he saw it completely dismantled with the new quarter fitted on and his words were that he wants EVERYBODY to see this car when he drives it down the road. He said he wants it to stick out like the biggest sore thumb ever and we just came up with torch red, naturally. He asked if it's doable lol I didn't understand his skepticism so the next morning I had a gallon of glasurit d3 torch red ("colorado red") sitting on the table, that day it became official.

I've got two SN95 projects we're working on right now, one we're working on a lot more than the other as one of them is my personal car and I just cant seem to get around to it >< I'll post another thread for what we've got going right now.

I think I came up with like a million different purple references for this car lol purple people eater, purple drink, grape ape, atomic eggplant (stole that one from chicane's s351 project) etc. etc lol it was definitely more purple than blue that's for sure!

The red has more of a visual impact...

GREAT JOB!!!

It's not my cup of tea either but after seeing the car a few times in person the cars that still have factory scoops start to look a little awkward and not so fancy with the big plastic scoop Ford uses. I honestly hated the delete until I saw it red :p but I might be a little biased ha!

Also, given that we were told to take our time due to other cars being worked on at the same time (we're only a two man crew at the moment with side help when needed) from start to finish it took about 7 to 8 weeks and about an extra week to let the paint shrink so we can buff it out. Mind you we're not a bodyshop (not taking anything away from bodyshops but let's be honest here) so we didn't just slap the car together, we've even taken the time to go back, repair and repaint a few parts that we weren't happy with that no one otherwise notice but we knew of their existence and just couldn't let it get by us.

From what the previous owner said the car made 750 on the dyno but I can't confirm that, the car needs to be retuned though and hopefully we can get that done before my buddy heads out to Reno with the car.

Also, to everyone else I didn't quote, thank you very much for the compliments it makes our passion to work on these car that much greater!

I think so too. I actually thought about doing side scoop deletes on mine, but couldn't justify the cost to have it done right.

Yeah it can get costly, it's really not worth doing it unless someone is doing a color change or full repaint, it would look slick on a convertible tho!

Just gonna leave this here by the way I hope nobody minds

Before cut and buff:
