i knew when i bought a mustang, that eventually, i would floor it, and most likely, love it.

that time has come..

i floored it first, in second gear at around 1500 rpm when i was first learning manual, and i didnt downshift, so it was obviously slow until it got in the powerband, but i wasnt really fulfilled.

then i floored it in 3rd, from about 2100 rpm, and didnt downshift, and it was slow..

so i got the idea, well, i'll just do it from first.. so i took it out in the country and romped on it from 1200 rpm to about 4000 and pushed in the clutch and drifted back down to a reasonable rpm for second gear.

i drove the car for about 7 months without ever touching the floor again, each day gaining experience in shifting and an overall feel of the car.

3 days ago, i decided it was time.. i took the car out to tha same spot in the country and gunned it all the way to about 70, it was a fuckin blast.. i loved getting smashed into my seat, bangin gears, and hearing the car ROAR like i've never heard it before....

but it was over to quickly.. i needed more..

i just got back from doing the exact same thing about 4 times, from different speeds and gears, and.. of course.. VS. different people.

im going to the drag strip within the next month or so, and i will be posting times and hopefully a video..

so, i decided i'd share it with you, that the mustang bug has been caught by another person, and my next mods will be go mods, and if i continue gunning it.. probably an engine rebuild.

The more I beat my car the better it runs, for some reason my cars have always lasted longer when i drove them like I stole them.

ya know, people npi's might be "slow" but, it is a MUSTANG GT, and i think people need to give it credit..

ford sold plenty, and we're all proud owners of "the slowest gt ever made"

ford still had to make them somewhat fast in order to sell them.

i sure hope thats the way my car rolls, im not going to be "beating on it" necessarily, im just going to be flooring it every now and then.

I know that, I was running a stock slow mustang gt for over 2 years, just recently after doing the HCI swap I figured out how slow these cars really are out of the factory, especially after I drove my brother's '08 GT/CS for the first time, sadly for him now, my car is faster and cost me WAY less :p.

slow is all in what your comparing it to, i suppose.

the CS you drove is also 14 years newer than yours.

but in 1994, (1998 for me).. our cars were faster than all the hondas, and gave the camaros a good run.

i know!! wtf? my first car was a Passat with a 5 speed... ok it was my first car, it was a clutch, and it had a turbo. i beat the piss out of that car had it for OVER a year without changing the oil once. it never let me down

yea i got that too tho. i have like 200 miles on the tranny, i know i shouldnt be beating on it yet, but its SO hard to resist!!!

You ARE freakin paranoid man lol.. I'll run mine up to 5k "fairly" regularly. As in once every other day when i'm being nice. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. Just don't go bouncin off the rev limiter or anything stupid like that. These engines are supposed to be pretty durable.

The first time that I took the GT to the drag strip it was like a different car.. Better fuel mileage, better response, all around just better. Now that I haven't romped on it in a few months it's back to being a little sluggish. Guess it's time to get the stick out and beat on her some more. lol

i have heard that doing that every now and then loosenes up carbon buildup and other things that might be hindering the car.

not to mention, when you floor it, you get an idea of how healthy your car is.. you know, does it miss at high rpms, does the throttle response suck, does it cut out, etc etc.

lmao at both of you, i remember when i first installed my exhaust, i revved it to 3k, and it sounded amazing, but i drove it soooo slowly to make sure i didnt break anything after that..

im still sitting in my room paranoid about my car as we speak... idk if its ok after flooring it..

but something inside is rubbing, i have horrible clutch chatter and squeaking noises when the clutch is engaged.
