I did that to mine when my trans was stock and honestly I ran it for another year. The replaced all fluids including torque converter and filter and still she ran good. I honestly only swapped my trans because I went with a built version when I was in NC because of military and I was drag racing every weekend.

Yeah. I didn’t wanna take that chance. Replace it so I can try to avoid having to do that later plus not getting a gear... can’t have that.

Got some stuff done today. It’s up for the most part. Had to get the driveshaft cut by an inch because the tailshaft on the new one was longer but it is what it is. Hopefully I’ll be able to wrap up more tomorrow and get a test drive in.

So the transmission is all up but we’re thinking the Neutral Safety Switch is bad or going bad. She starts but not in Neutral. Adjustments didn’t Then to the other stuff. change much here which is why That’s the conclusion for now. Didn’t take a video though I should have. Still have to change the AC line. Tighten everything else up, Figure out why I no longer have power windows on either side and trace down what’s going on with the power steering. The rest is cosmetic mostly and putting things back together. I can’t figure out the windows other than I’m kinda sure they stopped working when I removed and swapped the center console. Though it’s a bit of a mess in the inside right now and I still need to deal with these door panels, I’ll get it done even if that means putting them back in as is because the wrapping process has not gone well. Other than that I think I’ll be good to go. More updates coming soon.

Well. Took two spins around the block just to see how it’s going. First one was okay. Second one was way better.

so she runs but no speedometer so I’ll figure that out. Then AC and getting everything else tightened up and fight the interior

Yep. It’s been like 6 years though but that was a lot of off and on. Also... I’m done with Walmart for car batteries. Last week i took the battery in to have it swapped and they said it “charged” claiming it was still good. This week it’s low and i brought it back to be charged or replaced and after wasting my time for 2 fricking hours they say, “Your battery is 7 days outta warranty.” I’m done with em.

Took her out for a few more trips after tightening some things down. AC, Power steering, and windows next. Why is it I’m dreading the interior almost as bad as I was the transmission. Putting things back together is normally fun but fixing all the issues and tracing down why some things aren’t the way they should be. I’m somewhat happy about how far it’s come though.

Sheed. Almost got a ticket already! ON A TEST RUN! She shifted so smoothly I barely noticed that it was changing gears. But it was like an oven in there and I had to get outta there. But I’m hopeful that I’ll figure out the AC and possibly the windows.

Tried to get the AC right but now it looks like I’ll have to replace the other AC line because it’s leaking in two spots. Still haven’t gotten the windows down yet though I’ve checked most of it and I don’t get why they’ve stopped. Still hear the click when I press the switch though so I’m thinking motors. Took another longer trip and she ran pretty good but I heard the power steering start whining about half way through the drive. The Power Steering is leaking up top and beneath the pump too so I’m gonna try and adjust those lines again. They’re a PITA though. Radio is almost in though and I’ve gotta make some adjustments there too.

Update is. Power steering is good now. Time to do brakes, windows, AC and the rest of the interior. Little by little. Sound is almost done too.

Man I cannot win. Got the Power steering right, took a drive, started on the interior and then that storm passed through last week. Now I’m here trying to get the windows and the AC right and see what’s up with the Speedometer but now she won’t start. Everything seems fine but she doesn’t even turn over. So I guess I’m gonna troubleshoot that tomorrow. One step forward two back.

Well she starts and runs again. Went back to working on the interior. Got some new window motors and regulators on the way but I’m putting the panels on until they get here. Still have to deal with the AC among other things but little by little. Also have to deal with the Speedometer too. The rest is just making sure that I can unfuck the mess that I got into with the wiring in here.

Lmao. That sounds like something I heard in the Corps. It just amazes me at how the further along I. Get with this project the more I find. There won’t be much of the original when I’m done it seems.
