I have two 500+ hp cars, and both are manuals. I prefer it. BUT, with a turbo, the car will be faster at the track with an auto.

The tranny is assembled!
still working out the details on the stall, but i'm leaning towards 2800 for this combo.

if things work out, the swap should be next week.


Here's a list of what my builder did:
upgraded non-welded planetary and 4R75E planetary from an 08 5.4L truck
Sun gear from a 5.4
upgraded reverse drum with new style one way clutch
mechanical diode style one way clutch
upgraded 1-2 accumulator with bonded piston
upgraded 2-3 " "
EPC solenoid from a 4R75 / soldered terminals
Direct clutch seals changed to one piece teflon seals
added clutch plates so there are 7 plates on the direct clutch
new direct clutch drum
upgraded to 6 forward clutch plates
upgraded intermediate clutch to high HP friction material
upgraded OD band to high HP friction material
upgraded stub shaft
all seals replaced with newer/better

replaced 1-2 accumulator top spring and eliminated lower spring
eliminated 2-3 accumulator spring
upgraded OD servo piston (larger)
upgraded OD servo return spring to larger
set pump end play
installed Lentec valve body
tested and reinstalled shift and lock-up solonoids

Rather than having to tow the car to my installers shop, I decided to have him do the RNR.
dropping off the car tonight.

here's a few pictures my builder took. wish he would have done more of the assembly, but this is all I got.

Then all the haters with manuals will come in and be like meehhhh, blah blah your gonna miss shifting, autos are the Ghey, Nubz drive autos, blahh meehhhhh

I can tell you that both the guy who tuned my car and the guy who built my motor have cobras they race. they've both swapped out to built autos and love it.


The car is at the shop. should have it back before new year.

Yea...theres a reason why anyone who actually has a fast car and a built auto swears by it....most of the haters have never experienced a stalled auto car with some power or owned one....especially a turbo one.

Your gonna love it...shifting is nice but at the same time a stalled auto turbo car is s BEAST

I've driven, and ridden in plenty of uber high-powered Mustangs with autos (and one Camaro) and I'd still own a stick shift. :grin: I mean cars that put down 600-800+ to the tires and trap in the 140s.

Your an outlier...lol

The majority of people who switch to an auto will swear by it and never go back...thats not to say that banging gears is fun but when you have a 500 hp+ car, shifting and controlling the thing can become complicated and it seems that the auto is the way to go if you want to actually use the power to its fullest and get the car to run the 1/4 where it should be and consistently.

Even as a daily driver, the auto just seems to be far easier to handle when you have more power.

I may be switching to a tko eventually because I have ADD out the ass and cant stand being bored and im young but im sure ill wish I was auto after a month haha

after having driven both, I like the auto better for regular driving.
and I do enjoy driving it as a stick. it's just my preference.

this is one of those arguments that never is settled on.

Yea...a built stalled auto with a nice vb and a nice converter is not even comparable to a stock sluchbox...even a converter makes a world of differance

well, adhesion promoter, then high temp paint.
turned out pretty good!
