Well, my husband has always said if I go to the track, I will break something, and I kept saying my car wasn't modified enough and has low miles, so I would not. Well, I think he was right...
The rear seems to be leaking now... and sometimes when I am driving I am hearing a noise that sounds like I ran over a plastic bottle or cup or something, but when I look in the rearview, there's nothing in the road... sigh...
Guess I'm calling the shop tomorrow morning...
Any ideas what I might have done?

what do you mean it " seems to be leaking" it either is or isint. Park your car for a hour or so and then look under the pumpkin, do you see oil? If you do then you have a leak :( you do have gears right?? Something might have gave way and is now broke loose, was the bolts on the cover pan tq'ed down properly?? Seems strange to have a leak from there to being with unless it wasnt put back on correclty :dunno:

I worded that wrong. It is leaking. There was a big spot under it this morning, but I was at work all day yesterday and got home after dark, so I wasn't sure if it was from my car or if someone had parked there during the day (I park in the street, and my neighbors always have people visiting, and they park in that spot if my car's not there. So my neighbor looked under the car today and said it is my car... I had the gears put in by a shop, but that was in January, so I would think they did the install fine, it it's taken until now for something to happen...

Ok, so do you know the guys at the shop? are they honest? Will they tell you the truth if it was a faulty install job??? What kind of gears are they ( brand )

Yep, the guys at my shop are great, and they know they are going to be doing about a $10,000 build job on the car in two years, so they always try to help me out, so I think they would tell me. And they are FRPP gears.

your fine then, maybe it will be something simple :dunno: you have a leak and a strange noise anything OTHER than that?? Because it sounds like a minor problem RIGHT NOW anyway

Nope, that's it. I was worried about breaking something there, because he drilled it into my head for so long, haha, so I was paying close attention to how the car was running coming home from the track, and all seemed fine, it was yesterday that I started hearing the noise, but it's not often, just here and there, and last night for the leak... He's still away, so I'll drive his car until he gets back tomorrow night, and I'm going to call the shop in the morning to see if I can drive it down, maybe they can get it taken care of before the end of the day and not affect me getting back to work on Tuesday.

Well Mel it sounds like you are getting the full effect of racing at the track, breaking things is just part of the game, that just means it is time to up grade!! I think I read in another post that you work for Fed Ex? I do to. Good to see another person from team purple on here!!

Lol, yep, I know, and I expected some breakage, was just hoping it wouldn't happen the first time since my husband kept saying it would and I kept saying it wouldn't!
And yep, I'm a courier at Fedex for the last 8 years. How bout you?

Think I can do this myself? Without taking it to the shop? I hate when I have to do that. My skills are moderate, lol. If I can find something online telling me how, generally I can do it myself...

Check and see if it is leaking at the pinion seal or the rear cover. Taking the rear cover off is no big deal. it is just that, a cover. Just make sure everything is clean and dry when you put it back together. But if it is leaking from the pinion seal, which is much more likely, take it to the shop and let them fix it. Don't tell them you took the car to the track, maybe they will warranty it for you since you had gears installed less than a year ago.

Got my rear-end fixed, lol. the seal was leaking, so they just did a differential service and it only cost me 75 bucks.

Call me dumb, but why do you have to ask your husband for everything? It confuses me alot...

No offense and maybe it's just me, but it seems like he's an ass... :-\

Nope, he's not an ass, he's actually a great guy. I just don't like to fight, so I choose to ask and make sure whatever it is isn't going to piss him off.
