hey you guys, right now i have a 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin-Turbo, and i was thinking about selling it and getting a Saleen S351 Mustang preferably an R-Code and I was wondering if there was anything special i would need to know about while i search for one? Ever since i've seen those cars i was in love and my dad has a 1995 5.0 Saleen Clone but I need a REAL Saleen and the S351 is my dream Saleen. So i wanted to know if there were any prevalent problems in a lot of them and how reliable are they? most of the one's that i have seen so far have very low miles with rebuilt engines, which concerns me and makes me think as if they all HAD to rebuild because the engines already crapped out on them. and i would love to get a 96-98 S351 because they had the 6spd but i can settle for a 94-95 with the 5spd. any information you guys could give me would be great. thanks!

oh and if anyone here has one, how nice are they to drive? ie: handling, acceleration, everyday driving around the city....ect.

I've never driven one myself, but I rarely hear a Saleen owner say they aren't happy with their car. You might try checking Saleen specific forums for more info. Like http://saleenpower.com/ipbforum/. Or try a Google search on key words SALEEEN MUSTANG FORUM. Just a thought. Best of luck with your quest. Sounds like you will soon have your dream car! O0

There were only ~299 every built, and only a fraction of those were R-codes. They are hardly the car for you if you're concerned about reliability. They are collector cars, and don't deserve to be a daily driver IMHO.

How much money do you have for one?

Most of the cars you are talking about that had an engine rebuild, are probably because the owner blew it up while beating the shit out of it.
