is anyone else interested besides us two? Wondered if we could get enough together to do a group buy.
TTOCS, the DDM kits are so freakin cheap, so cheap that the wifey didnt even notice the money was gone from the bank account lol. They are great kits and the only kit I have ever had that hasnt had any problems and I have been running HID's in all of my cars since the ricer days of The Fast and The Gay where the whole kit had to be retrofitted and nothing was plug and play.

My only thought for going 55w is that the original circuit is a 55w setup and that it's a more white light

True. but it will also be brighter. which may get you into trouble with the po-po. not sure. but people will prolly think your brights are on
I've had no legal issues with mine but mine are aimed somewhat low. I have a Haine's manual and there is a section in the back on how to aim your headlights with a wall and some tape. I did the annoying process on my parent's garage door and it worked pretty well. I then parked my fathers car (Toyota Avalon) in the middle of their coldesac with my car behind it with the lights on and then sat in his car to see if I was blinded at all (front and back)....I did have to lower the lights about a turn and a qurter of the way down just to be curtious to others. I have been flashed maybe twice but that has only been on a busy backroad in the woods when I was comming up hill and the oncoming driver was comming downhill.

I do however, wish the high beams actually made a difference, they raise the beam up but the light output is the same if not worse lol. Maybe its becasue I have smoked headlights. I would really like to switch to a projector setup. Also when you hit your highbeams on, the controller box makes any annoying "SLAP", which can sometimes be audible inside the car.

My understanding about the projectors is that they just have ceiling for the beam of light so to speak so it's got a line where the beam doesn't shine above and it makes it more courteous to other drivers.

No it concentrates the light. The HID bulb has its own seperate housing with it's own seperate housing (kind of looks like the top of a flashlight) inside the headlight. I dont know the mechanics of the actual projector, just that it is needed to concentrate and focus the light.

The HID's will be more effective if you go with some headlights with clear lenses.
The stock headlights refract the light quite a bit and the clear lenses allow the light to come more straight out like a spot light instead of a flood light

Yeah but i doubt it'll matter as I'll be getting the 6000k kit in 55w which will only have the tiniest hint of blue to it I'll just tell them that they are sylvania silver star ultras.

6000K 55w will look like 4500k 35w, pretty much white. and there is no way you can mistake HIDs for Silverstars if you know HIDs lol

Ok well first off some people do know SH$T about SH$T. Second since you have a GT unless you have a Cobra Headlamp there is no reason to get HID's as the way the light refracts off the GT lens is Horrible with the plug and play HID's . Third if you have inspection and you go to someone that actually does a inspection you will FAIL! Fourth as JD said it concentrates it. It does a very good job actually i like my OEM HID's in my speed better b/c the projector is 1. more courteous to other drives 2. it concentrates the light properly on the road 3. it just plain looks better IMO. Fifth if you do a projector as some people have it can look very good on a mustang. Oh and since your in Cali don't they try to get you on everything wrong with your car?

They do try to get you on everything but won't know what to look for under the hood to identify the hid's should they try and take it that far. If they were to give me a fix it ticket and want an inspection I could easily yank the hid's throw on some stickers get inspected race home and reinstall the hid's. What's different between a cobra and gt lamp? All projector housing look stupid diced out for the early sn's

I want to get some different headlight lenses (LMR has a set of ones that are dark inside but have a clear lens for max light), and some HID fogs, but I've yet to put the money aside. I personally would prefer white HID's with yellow fogs. I dont like that annoying blue.

Just for a comparison I have some photos since I just did this a few weeks ago

Before Silverstar Ultras 9007 55w

After 9007 HID 55w 6000k kit
outsideafter02.jpg

This is with cobra clear headlight lenses and the DDM tuning HID kit, 55w in 6000k. Not the slim ballast, the regular one. Funny thing was, since they're local, I picked up the kit for under $40, and the freakin silverstar ultras at pep boys were $55. Much better I think.
