Have you double checked all the wires? Did you corssthread any plugs? Did you change them one plug/wire at a time?

This is his new 4.6 hence the specific forum he put it in :tongue3:

Still acting up i see. It could be a bad wire or a wire that was going bad and you just maybe bent it the wrong way and it's not allowing the current through it now completely. i have had a problem once in the past that if the wires were all over each other and not in there proper places it caused it to run crappy. This only happened thoguh b/c the wires were old.

Gotta make sure 5.0's are 2vs too :thefinger:

Unfortunately, early 4.6s only engage three threads on the plugs, it's very easy to strip them, some of them blow out of the head on their own.

OH I know about that... I blew one out within a month of havin the car...but I find it weird, that this car ran decent, with one plug barely open, but not with 8 brand new plugs.. I gapped them to .054 like twice already...but I was like wtf so i checked to see what the old ones were gapped at and they were at .045 which is not what the spec is. but the car ran fine.

if its a random pop its most likely a mixed up plug wire location.

i like .045 gap personally on a stock or bolt on car, and less for a F/I car. you wont notice a difference in .045 and .055 but the smaller gap is less likely to create a problem if a coil is going bad.

OK so if I checked and they are all correct, what could be causing the random pop? This is getting annoying, I been working on this all day, checking a rechecking gaps, wire locations. I had a spark plug socket rubber stuck on one of the plugs, took me 2 hours to get the b!tch off.

Exactly, a tighter gap helps keep em lit, try putting them to .042

WAS THE NEW PLUGS-LONGER THEN THE OLD ONES..may be hitting the top of the piston-did you check the tips of the plugs-did you crack one.installing them-years ago-when i would change a set of plugs.one wire-would get damaged.so i started-installing new.wires..when i change plugs..one rubber boot-could be down and the tip of the wire.could be just touching.i all ways.use never seize-on aluminum threads..

only time i've EVERY heard the muffler pop at idle like a firecracker is when the plug wires are crossed, so if you're certain they are right then i dont have a clue.

I called the autozone by me, and they dont check codes...which is gay. I did regap the plugs.. ON a weird note, this morning I got up and disconnected and reconnected all the wires and fuel injectors, and it was fine. Until I made a hard turn then It started actin shtty again. Im thinkin one of these plugs is just fubared... i need to get somewhere where they can check the codes so I know which cylinder is giving the problem
