This is why I hate knowing where a car goes after selling...

From the ad:

"I need more space in a car. I bought this car two years ago with a freshly rebuilt transmission and 70,000 miles on it. I put new michelins on it with lifetime/forever maintenance and 70,000mi warranties+ road hazard guarantee from costco for $500. It has a brand new premium battery about a month old. It has a full tank of gas. Problems to be fixed, a possible bad valve, egr valve+egr valve tube clean, power steering pump, and heater core."

My parents bought this car new in the fall of '94. LX with the then-new 2V motor and redesigned interior compared to the '93 models.

This car was like a luxury car the way it rode. Hands down one of the most comfortable cars I've ever ridden in. Tons of room, some of the best seats ever, and had that mid-90s Ford build quality which IMO wasn't that bad at all. Silky smooth engine and steering.

My mom died in '06 and then my sister and I inherited it. As much as I really no longer cared for the car, I dropped my shitbox BMW like a hot potato to drive this car since it only had 55k miles then and ran like a top. Prior to that the only repairs it ever had was a MAF and an SSS sensor for the tranny, which I replaced in shop class in high school. Other than that it never had so much as a hiccup. The funny thing about this car was that from day one the "vent" air was ice cold even though it wasn't the AC. I don't know that my parents ever used the AC, since the non-AC air was ice cold for some reason, from the time it was new until I sold it.

I drove the car for about a year until I moved to Japan, at which point my sis and I sold it to the kid across the street with 65k miles on it. The kid promptly beat the shit out of it, towed lawnmowers with it, and even threw lawnmowers in the backseat of that flawless interior. Now he's selling it all fucked up for $900 to get rid of it since it needs a ton of work. He also claimed he bought it from us with a rebuilt tranny, no he didn't. It had a new sensor, not a rebuild. Kid's a fuckin' retard. He also added those autozone fog lights, ugh. It also appears the V8 badges on the fenders are gone.

On some levels I wish I could pick it up for probably $500 and slap the kid upside the head for trashing it out so bad, because in my mind I still see it as the most reliable car ever that drove like a cloud, but I bet it's too far gone now.

What a shame.

can't look back mang but as a son that is now driving the 94 gt his mom bought as new I can understand. The car was nick-named the mom-stang by all my buddies at the time and it has stuck to this day. You can still get it back and make it right, or even better if it means that much to you. The memories of your mom in it are still there even with the grass-stained back seat.

Yeah it's probably not worth it. My bro in law is an ASE mechanic and could fix it all for cheap, but I'd probably still need $2000 into it once you start uncovering unknowns since I'm sure there's more it needs, but looking on autotrader $5k gets you a 40k mile unmolested V8 car which would be a way better deal in the long run.

It's part of the old life though, time to let go and move on. Just sucks to see it last 16 years and then go to hell in two.

My mom hated it anyway, my dad just showed up with it one day a few days after we looked at it on the showfloor and then left her stuck with it when they split up in '98 lol. She really wanted to get rid of it for something of her choosing but could never afford to.

I should show my dad the ad lol.

It's pretty bad in person. I was just at my sister's for a bbq and saw it across the street, hood cracked open on a battery charger, oxidized paint, and rusty rockers.

It's junk, I don't think that pic above is the actual car since tonight it had the fender badges and no fogs

Funny you should say that...

I know a guy from Maryland that sold his 98GT in 2010 to a guy in Holland and he still sees regular updates on his car via Facebook... But then again I'm taking real good care of his old ride.

You say "very far away" but in the modern world nothing is far away.
