I've been in search of some new rims for my 96 Mystic Cobra for quite some time, and I think I finally have decided, just looking for some final opinions and thoughts. I'm looking at going with 17x9 Chrome 03 Cobras, 275/40 rear, undecided on the fronts (probably 255/45, but maybe 275/40).  I really doubt I'll end up with the 17x10.5 rears, so I think the 275's are about the widest I can go (limited tire selection to fit the wider ones).  Here are some pics of a 96 Mystic with the exact setup I'm looking for (17x9's, 275 rear, 255 front).  What do you guys and gals think, worth the swap? Thanks for any input/suggestions.

Another Mystic with the 03's, not sure on sizes.

And here are a couple pictures of my car for comparison (now have smoked head and fog lights).

I'd like 18 Saleens, but I'm not shelling out that much money for tires (rears don't seem to last very long). I've went through tons of pics, and being limited to 17's the 03's are my favorite, just need some other opinions to see if it is worth the swap. I'm gonna do some research on the safety of them, but I have a pair of 1 inch spacers I may run on the rear to bring the tires out some. Thanks!

Everytime I see a mystic it makes me miss mine and wish she wasnt taken from me! Go with either chrome saleens or the 03' cobras, both are a winner for the mystics. Now what would be cool is saleens powdercoated in a mystic color, that'd be hot.

I've saw black chrome on a Mystic, really didn't like it. Chrome is the only thing that does the Mystics justice IMO. As mentioned, I'd love the Saleens, but that is a lot of money for tires. That, plus I'm still tossing around the idea of 315's in the rear. There has got to be more opinions out there, please give me some input on the 03 Cobras. Thanks.

I have the chromed 03's on my car right now! I really like them on an SN95. On a Mystic, you're right! Chrome does look just great on them!

well how much are you looking to spend. I am a big fan of the saleens, but if you do go with the cobras, i highly recommend getting the 10.5's out back. I had the same reasoning and i got my 17x9 cobra r's they looked good, but the 10.5s really fill out the back and make it nice and flush.

Long story about the sizing, but in short I will need a tire that can be driven year round, in temps down to the teens. I'm not sure my Nitto 555's will work for the winter months. If they will, I'll get the 10.5's, but if not, I'll have to switch to an all season tire, and the widest I can find is 275. The only thing keeping me from Saleens is tire price, not really the cost of the rims. I can't see spending 700+ on tires. If the majority thinks the Chrome 03's are a very nice upgrade from stock, that's what I'll do. If the majority thinks that I should stay stock because there isn't that big of a change, I'll save the money or use it for other mods. Thanks!

I've thought about keeping the stockers, but just for later on down the road. I can't see spending over a grand for rims/tires that will only be used 1/2 maybe 3/4 of the year. I think Nittos will do ok this winter (got enough tread left to get me by). If so, I'll stick with them, go 10.5 out back with 315's. It all just depends on how well they do this winter. Either way, even with the wides out back I can save over $100 every time I buy tires. That's a big difference, can do a lot of other mods with that money.

^ I def feel you there on the money part... tires are outrageous and one of the reasons I plan to stick wih 17s for awhile.

in that case just throw some buckets of sand in the back and you will do fine, thats what i did, and if you do happen to get stuck for some reason just throw down the sand
