Throttle Body and MAF v. Bigger Injectors

I'm a college student with no money and I want to get the best bang for my buck, so question is: is a bigger throttle body and MAF sensor really worth it? Seems to me a bigger throttle body is only going to help a very small amount because the inlet on the intake manifold isn't going to be any bigger. I plan to go to 24lb injectors to get a little more fuel in the motor unless that really won't make any more power...

First things first:

Tune up
Gears
Shifter (if manual)
Cold Air Kit

i dont think a shifter is too important. i had a pro-5.0 that was so worn out it would grind ect.

put the stock shifter on with the pro-5.0 handle, and it shifts perfect and the throw is almost as short as the pro-5.0.

not worth $150+ imo

I disagree. A good shifter has been worth a couple tenths on my cars. Your results may vary. :)

I already have a Steeda short throw and I like it...

My plan by the end of the summer is to supercharge it so i don't want to put money into an intake and then have no use for it. The car is a daily driver for now so I don't want anything too extreme but I was looking at getting a F303 or B303 cam. Good idea?

Yeah my friend ran nitrous in his Boss 5.4. He spent $500 on the kit and install and then $50 a bottle a week for 5 months. Fried his tranny and could have bought a supercharger for what he had into it. Did make up 5 lengths on me though :)

Unless you're just after the sound, I wouldn't even bother with a cam until/unless you improved the heads. The stock cam is actually a pretty efficient grind for overall power. But an E303 is the biggest I'd go on stock heads, or even better a Comp XE264HR or XE270HR.

Personally, though, I'd stick with the stock grind, put 1.7RRs on it, and save up for some better heads. You could even get some GT40Ps from an explorer and it'd be a good improvement over stock, or you could go with AFR165s or similar heads if you want something with more potential. The stock cams work pretty well with a supercharger, and if you really want a good supercharger-specific cam grind down the road, which would do better than an F303 or B303. You say you plan to supercharge and thus don't wanna fool with an intake, I'm guessing you're considering a Kenne Bell or similar, since a centrifugal would obviously utilize and benefit from a better intake?

And I fully agree with the above. Gears are no doubt the best bang for the buck. Nitrous is another, but it's a love it/hate it kind of deal.

gears are always good. you will eventually need the maf and bigger injectors if you plan on bigger mods. :thumb:

but will a bigger throttle body make a big difference or should I not worry about it and just do the gears, MAF and injectors? I just don't think a bigger throttle body will let that much more air into the motor

A MAF and injectors will do nothing for you. Your engine is not modded enough to require larger airflow via the MAF/TB or more fuel from the injectors. For all that money, you'll probably make the same or LESS power.

like paul has already said, if you want to feel a difference then gears are your best bet. you might look into getting the trac-lock rebuilt as well.

tb, maf, and/or inj will do nothing for you. certainly nothing you are going to feel.

those are more supporting mods than anything else, they might be a bottle neck down the road when you are running hci or forced induction. It's pretty easy to think about... if the car would run that much better because of a simple 100-200 dollar tb why would it not be installed from the factory.
