Atm i'm running a 65mm Ford Racing T\B on my Cobra intake, will this intake take a bigger body ie:70mm without modifying, just wondered now the afr heads are on, is the 65 body too small?
Btw i'm mainly interested in low to midrange power, i would have thought a smaller body would be better?

Low and mid range torque production is based on maximizing the velocity of air flow into the engine. Usually this does mean smaller openings such as venturi and runners. This causes the air to flow faster in order to get the same volume of air into the cylinder within the same amount of time (RPM) as the next engine with larger openings at a slower velocity. This is based on fluid flow dynamics. I am sure someone will chime in with experience with a set up similar to your's. I am not really up to speed on throttle bodies like your's. I have seen people use both sizes (65mm, 70mm)but don't know what their specific goals were.

Which heads do you have? AFR 165? If so 65mm will work fine. You'd need to do a bit of porting to really utilize 70+mm TBs.

I don't think the Cobra intake will take a 70mm without being opened up.

Your 65mm will be just fine, and any difference between the two would likely be negligible.

*cliff notes*

Stick with what you've got.

Paul.

you probably wont even notice a difference between a 65 and 70, and yes a 70 will work with a cobra intake, i had a 70 on my stock gt intake before i went to a 75 with my edelbrock intake

Actually, believe it or not, i've got a 60mm TB on my '95 GT, and after tuning the idle screw, that car ran a million times better, you could feel a difference... maybe it's just me? i've got a stock GT intake to, so who knows... I've got another stock GT intake in my garage i'm porting for the 70mm TB right now, just not to high on the priority list... well, atleast not high enough to worry about now.

you can put any size throttle body on the intake and if you open up the elbow it will help in performance with more mods you do

when I went from a 65mm to a 75mm I lost 13 lbs of torque down low and only gained 5 horses above 4000. so I stepped it back down to a 70 and gained 5 ft/lbs and kept the 5 horses. so unless your underbosst I think the 75 is over kill. this was with the setup in my sig
