time for a new clutch?

ive got right at 65000 miles now on the stock clutch.

the mach is not catching very well at all, and its getting difficult to maintain a good shift.

its now starting to act funny. ill be coming to a red light or stop sign, push in the clutch, and the rpms dont go down to idle at all until im at a complete stop. like tonight when i went out picture whoring, i was doing about 20 mph in 2nd at about 1900 rpms, and when i pushed in the clutch to go to a stop sign, the rpms stayed at 1900 until i was at a stop. basycally i could coast WITH the clutch in at 20 mph and the rpms would still be at about 1900, catch my drift? sorry i know i suck at explaining things. :BangHead:

but does this sound like its time for a new clutch? im not sure so you tell me

someone correct me if i'm wrong but i dont believe that your clutch is the problem. Im not positive how modular motors work but my 95 is doing similar to the same thing and iv'e ben told that the issue lies in either the tps or the iac

It sounds more like an idle surge. You'll know you need a clutch when you hit the gas and the RPMs go up quick but the rest of your car doesn't.

im not sure. of course my dad is saying its not time for a new clutch. but what does he know? about as much as i do.

BUT now that its acting funny, im not wanting to drive it for 1) fear of screwing something up 2) clutch going OUT and car not running at all

also, im going to arkansas this weekend for 4th of july and I NEED THIS CAR.

speaking of AIT and MAF sensors, i just cleaned the engine bay today which involved me spraying water under the hood.

Spraying down your engine bay shouldn't harm your maf or ait. The only thing you would have to worry about would be coil pack or dizzy (but you dont need to worry about that). Take out your ait and tps (or equivalent for mod motors) and try cleaning them with electric parts cleaner (not sure if you have to use something specific), let em dry and replace them.
