220 was to remove what was left of the peeling clear coat. its not even close to ready, we pretty much just removed most of everything from the body that isnt getting painted.

we will start again at 9am and get a full day in.

not to step on duff's feet but you want to finish sand with 400-600 grit 800 grit is almost to soft for primer to stick. then you should wet sand your primer with a 600 grit paper then go over it again with 800 grit before you paint... good luck bro

Re: time for paint...

lol its ok guys we know what were doing.

i've said in the past that i would never ever do bodywork again.

long story short 2 weeks of work on an 83 carolla coupe down the drain due to a dodge ram's tow package to the passenger side. (we were driving and he backed out of his driveway into the front of the door.) cut that side open like a tin can.

sanding ruins my life. lol. good luck!

same here, its almost as bad as sanding hardwood floors, all 125,000 sq feet i did last year.
wear a mask and *safety goggles*.... when we sanded mine i accidently rubbed my eye with car paint on my hands... safety goggles will remind you that your face is off-limits to dirty hands. LOL!

gunna paint it Incredible Hulk Green when its all done?

thanks, we did all the prep upto 600 grit in 3 days. the body/paint shop did final sanding (kept cost down and kept warrenty) the one thing the shop messed up was the bumpers. they forgot to spray the trim in black but they are more then happy to fix it at no cost.

Re: time for paint... update paint is done

i highly recomend never ever doing anything like this in a 2 car garage... soooooo messy. my friend had to scrub the floor with a wire brush and paint thinner, along with everything stored in there. to much cleanup............

on a positive note, more pics will be up tomorrow when the window trim is reinstalled.
i think some five star's are going on it next month too.
