timing question

Hey guy i have a few question abotu timing i was told by this guy that works on stangs around me that if you look near the airbox on mustangs you can take this diode looking grey thing out and it will advance timing and you will gain power?? is this a fact and is it a safe way to?? or should i just loosen and turn the distributor to advance it?

No, what you do is take that out and then use a timming light and rotate the dizzy.

ok what should i set the timing at? because i ran it without it in without rotating the dizzy and it felt like a freakin 4cyl lol what does this thing actually do??

when installed it allows the computer to adjust the timing. When you take it out it allows you to set base timing on the motor, don't forget to reinstall it.

stock it 10* btdc but most peeps take timing to 12-14* for performance. if the motor pings you'll need to back it off a bit or use 93 octane
