Well today I was driving my car and I heard some noises coming from what seemed like the engine bay when I was sitting in the car. When I popped the hood to check it out I couldn't hear it at all or find it so I dont think it is the engine bay. might be something rubbing I will address that later

Anyways, when I was searching for the noise I looked at where the EGR tube meets the Long tubes header and I saw some exhaust spitting out of the top of the nut where there is the slight gap between the tube and the nut , which means I finally found may damn exhaust leak. oh happy day   that means no poor sealing at the exhaust gasket

The only problem is, I know for a fact that the nut is as tight as it can go because in my past hunts for the exhaust leak I have made sure that was nice and tight along with everything else. My question is, what is a good way to seal that up since the nut will not tighten anymore? I might just put a dab of RTV on there but I am not sure yet because I do not know if the RTV can withstand the heat put out by the headers

Does anyone have any better ways to fix this or know of any other substance I can put on to stop it from leaking?

percy dead aluminum gaskets, stage 8 locking header bolts, and copper RTV.

I already have the gaskets and bolts they are working well. I was refering to the exhaust coming out of the top of the egr nut that attatches to the header. Nothing is wrong with where the headers join the heads, it is just at the egr tube. I will get a picture up when I get back from class so I can specify the location better.

sorry for the misunderstanding. The copper RTV will hold up to exhaust heat.

yea just loosen and back it off and slather the end of the pipe with rvt and tighten it back down... should squish the rvt inbetween the nut and pipe.. kinda shitty but it should work.

Thanks for the responses I will slop some on and see how it goes. I am still happy I finally saw it leaking from there. I have never been able to listen for it because you could only hear it under load and giving it a little throttle in neutral wouldn't produce the sound.

No big deal, deffinatly +1 on the percey and stage 8's for anyone putting on headers. I have read some bad things about the gaskets but they are working well for me and I love the locks for the stage 8. Kinda a PITA to get them on but once you get them retighened and locked you dont have to worry anymore.

yeah I compared the two and to me it just looked like the perceys would do an excellent job at sealing and far they have.
