It would be retarded and dangerous if you don't have a rollbar to attach them to.

I have Corbeau seats and the regular seat belt. It isn't for show it was just because the stock seats were hurting my back a lot. I think it looks ricey sometimes, but I could care less what others think haha.

I would get the harness bar for it that goes across the car. Then at least it looks more useful. But I have Corbeau seats and the regular seat belt. A harness bar is the most ill-advised piece of equipment I think can be put on a car. Ive seen them fail and see what kind of damage they can do in a roll over. They bend easily under pressure and can suffocate or crush your chest, etc.

I forgot how we installed my neighbors 4 point harness without a roll bar, though its probably not the reccomended way.

I don't think racing seats are ricey, our cars are old enough they need a refresh.

I just got done putting some in my car. New seats add function and form, I wouldnt knock you

those seats will look great!

I thought the harness was 4-point? either way, not safe without a roll cage. The ONLY, harness I'd run on the street is Schroth 3-point or 4-point. Currently I have a Schroth 4-point in the car, being replaced with my 6-point (I have a cage). The schroths are the only DOT legal harnesses. if you crash with anything else in your car and get injured, your insurance will not cover you since its not DOT legal.

Is this a daily driver?

You wouldn't believe how quickly you'll despise having harnesses to drive in everyday. There's no ratcheting mechanism, so it makes even the easiest tasks like changing a CD a real pain in the ass. And as mentioned earlier, without a solid mount, they're actually dangerous. A local guy pretty much got broken in half because he had some goofy bar that mounted the upper belts too low in the car, and it tried to fold him in half when he got in an accident.

Thanks I really like the seats a lot, as far as DOT approved I had some in my truck(had plenty of HP to back the harnesses) and was pulled over for other reasons and CHP didnt even second guess them, and my accident that totalled the truck also led to no second guessing, that is just my experience and am in NO way calling you a liar. I will check out those harnesses you were talking about. Thanks all for the help and info.

Thanks for that info madstang, I was certainly not aware of it!

No problem, also even with 4 points you have to be careful, since there's no anti-submarine belt, the horizontal harness could slide up in an impact and do some real damage to you. The Schroths have ASM (anti-submarine) technology that keeps that from happening.

CHP wouldn't know the difference I'm sure. I'm saying though, if you were severely injured an insurance company is going to look for any way out of paying. having a non-DOT legal harness is just asking for trouble IMO.

As I always say, better safe than sorry...

I really appreciate the lack of jackass comments and the true help I am getting about this, the fact that you guys are giving me a whole other view of this idea really helps me out and I greatly appreciate it. I think im going to keep the factory belts and call it a day. I will post up pics of the seats installed when i get them in (3 weeks due to the brackets being made as they are ordered) really excited though

you can always route the stock 3-point seat belt through the seat, at least it will increase functionality and do its job holding you in place.

Luckily the standard GT seats aren't like the Bullitt seats which have the buckle built into them and not into the floor. When I put the Kirkey in the Bullitt, I had to cut a hole in the carpet and install a GT buckle (the tapped hole was in the floor pan)so I could use the factory belts for the reason I mentioned earlier, the lack of mobility when wearing a harness. So when I had the Bullitt seats in the car, I had an extra buckle tucked down in between the seats.
