A harness bar is the most ill-advised piece of equipment I think can be put on a car. Ive seen them fail and see what kind of damage they can do in a roll over. They bend easily under pressure and can suffocate or crush your chest, etc.

Thanks MadStang, I definitely did not know that. I was reading on some Honda or Acura forum (I was google searching harness bars and 4 point harnesses a long time ago) that a harness bar was the safest way to wear a 4 point harness and it would prevent suffocation in extreme stops or something. I guess they were wrong.

I know I didn't put a harness bar in because I have passengers and I was worried about getting in an accident and their heads banging into a metal pole. I didn't actually think I would be the one who could get seriously hurt too. I won't be installing one anytime in the future.

On an off topice note, I don't see the point in companies selling harness bars if they are actually so dangerous. The thing I don't get is why would companies sell them then if this can happen and it's not a safe way to install 4-5 point harnesses? I.e. Corbeau sells one, I'm sure others do too.

my boy has a 500+ HP car full cage seats the whole nine yards, he uses the stock seatbelt. If you aren't going to the track every weekend and this is a daily driver just stay with what you got and if someone calls you out on it, it's because their an idiot thats watch Fast and Furious one to many times lol.

They'll sell anything to make money. there was a thread awhile back I saw from a road racing forum of how a sparco harness bar failed and actually ejected the passenger clean out of the car. I can't find the picture of the mangled harness bar, but it wasn't pretty.... to me, if it ain't welded, it's not worth risking my safety over.

4-points are no better unless you get the Schroth ASM's. there's a reason why 4-point harnesses are banned in all forms of road racing unless they are Schroth....

eh... I'm putting a 6-point cam lock in mine and it's still a DD. if you're the only person that drives your car, putting on harnesses is as easy as pie. Hell I love my Schroth 4-point, just not able to be wrapped around my cage with the ends it has.

oh i'm not saying you shouldn't I was just saying that it's not a necessity and if someone is clowning him because he has races seats with no harness than they are just fools.

oh I see lol. I had to eliminate the stock belts because of my cage. they rubbed directly on the cage and would lock the mechanism. I really had no choice but to go big lol
