Tranny Fluid 96 Cobra

I was thinking about replacing the tranny fluid in my 96 Cobra this weekend while I have the car up on jack stands for some other projects. Question is...

I heard recommendations against changing the fluid in high mileage transmission, isn't that only the case for autos??
Fluid Recommendations? I was thinking royal purple, I guess everyone is gonna have a diff opinion.

I've heard the same with auto's. I just used the recommended Mercon 5 fully synthetic.

The theory, as my hot rod neighbor explains it, the fluid picks up the metal particles and loses its viscosity. It becomestuicker. It now acts like the mortar in a brick wall. .... ... im in no way a transmissison guy. Nor a petrolium engineer... but i can tell you my t45 grinds with fresh fluid until it gets a few thousand miles.

I suggest doing the change. I use royal purple atf.
