Transmission choice

I have been trying to pick between a Performance Automatic C4 and a Cobra T56.

Both will cost about the same ~2000$. My goal for the car is a 5-600hp street car but with a few trips to the track.

I know most will say the t56, But in the back of my mind I think of how many trans(t45's in my old 00) and this t5 in the 95.

I like the c4 because once in there it's almost worry free an the reason I put one in the 00.

I don't care about mpg and have drove 4 hrs an got 21 mpg with 3.55's on the highway with the c4.

I would like to hear some input from everyone

from my personal experience.. i would go with the T56. i truly love that transmission.

then again im not a fan of Auto's in Mustangs lol

My friend has one with a d&d 26 spline input, steeda tri-ax, clutch, an alum driveshaft for 1300. So I will need a QuickTime bell,new clutch, and switch the flange on the d/s

If the car is going to see allot of drag time, go with the c-4. You can not beat the consistency of a automatic trans on the drag strip. If it is a fun driver, go with the t-56.

Big fan of my 4R70W but I often dream of a 6sp swap and rowing my gears again.

I know, t56 has the cool factor. But the c4 is almost bullit proof when built.

aod/4r's are out of my price range and I can live without o/d. I only live 5mins from out track, im only 16 miles from work so i can get there in 20 mins with out hitting the highway. An only really drive 30-45 mins away from my home or shop. Ocean city where I go or spring an fall hot rod weeks is 4hr but I have made the trip before with my 2000 gt with a kb 2.2 an pa c4 and now I have use of as truck a trailer if need be.

Now that getting married next mo. An settled in I have been thinking about running in our local 10.5 index class in the next yr or so I guess the c4 will be the best an cheapest way to go.
