Forgive me if this is a repost but I tried searching and got nothing. The tranny in the 94 I just got has the nerve racking "squeaking throw-out bearing," which I can deal with, but every now and then it has a rattle along with it, but not Everytime that the clutch is released. I bought the car with no exhaust and drove it home wishing I had ear plugs with me, didn't hear anything out of the ordinary (although I couldn't really hear anything), the next day I took it to get exhaust put on it, pick it up to leave and the transmission has a knock while under load. I've had many of mustangs all stick cars, but never have I heard a t5 make this racket. Like I say it is only under a load that it is continuous, I'm not sure what the problem is. It's fine when you rev it up sitting still clutch in or out, but going through the gears the harder you are on it he worse it "knocks." I thought it was a vibration at first like a bad motor or tranny mount, but I put it on the lift in my garage and checked it out today and everything seems tight. I'd just like to know if anyone has experienced this. If no one can help that's fine, I'll just put another transmission in it. My other question is, how difficult is it to put a fox body tranny in my car? I can buy them all day long for $200-250 a piece, and I've had great luck racing and beating the hell out of a 4cyl t-5 as that's what I've put in a couple of my fox body's. Any help would be appreciated, no rush though. Thanks in advance guys.

Easy to put the a fox T-5 in, just use your bellhousing, clutch fork, and input shaft. Do a google search, tons of people have done it. You sure it's not a bad u-joint? Or shot tranny mount?

I googled and seen so many different answers I didn't know where to start lol. But thanks for making it clear and simple. Yeah u-joints are solid, and tranny mount is tight. It almost feels like its in the transmission, you can feel it through the shifter but at the same time you can feel it through the pedals. It's got me mind blown, for real.

make sure your new exhaust isn't rattling or hitting something when under load
That was the first thing I checked when I put it up on my lift today, but plenty of clearance everywhere.

Try using higher octane fuel. Up until couple months ago my GT was doing the same exact thing, come to find out I just needed to be using 93 octane instead of 89. No more racket on WOT. Try that, if it persists then you have an issue.

....it's not spark knock, it's coming from the transmission.

I'm just trying to be helpful, I thought mine was a transmission knock too. Sound was coming from under the car and I was convinced it was the transmission. It's always best to start with the little stuff first then to immediately assume the worst has happened. But do what you will it's your car.

No I wasn't being rude man lol. I appreciate your opinion in all honesty, but the way it jars and sounds I know it's definitely not spark knock, I've had spark knock on a couple of my foxes with bad timing and spray. This is a hardcore knock.

What is your base timing? Before my mods I could run base timing at 14* and still use 87 octane without issue. If you need 93 octane on a stock motor something isn't working correctly.

Jones' setup is a 4.6. I asked this as well, he probably has mass amounts of carbon buildup because he drives like a grandma. :)
