I originally thought pivot ball as well. However, pivot balls generally only make noise until you press the pedal. I mean barely press it and a pivot ball will generally shut up.

If the trans comes down. Do yourself a favor and replace those 3 things I posted in the second post. TOB, Pilot, Pivot ball. Not replacing them all is a waste of labor.

So today is a little different, the sound seems to be getting louder and now seems to be loudest with the clutch out, take a listen

If you notice the sound is still there with the clutch in but not as loud

Best advice I have for you is take it to a trans shop and have it diagnosed....My guess it is the Pilot Bearing.....I have become quite the expert on those (3 throwout bearings, 1 pilot bearing 2 clutches ontop of the OEM stuff all because of a crappy shop that did the install of clutch 1 and throwout bearing 1)

Just get it over with and drop the tranny. You're not gonna fix it with a post, something crapped out in the bellhousing. No matter what it is, she's gotta come out. :(

I have no reason to go with a better clutch right now since everything is pretty much stock. I heard that the Ford clutches hold up the best I may just go OEM

Alright so I took it to a shop this morning and he says ToB, I told him I'd be doing a complete clutch job and he quoted me $500 I feel a little better now.

My stock clutch lasted over 100,000 before the TB went out. The reason why it might be a good idea to upgrade it (even if it is a ford racing one) is for you power demands in the future....that way you wont have to do it twice. No matter what you do, only use the Ford Throw out Bearing, ball and bushing.....only ones out there that dont suck

Whoever told you that should be politely told to not give you advice anymore. I do clutch jobs on these cars for 500-600 with a better then stock clutch. The stock clutches don't last to long if your out having fun with car tracking it etc. when I was like 20 I replaced my clutch with a stock one beginning of summer it shattered in November it had a rough life. A good 100 passes on ET street slicks. I sugesst upgrading it a bit.

I'll definitely take this into consideration, what clutch would you recommend?

I am running an Exedy stage 2 clutch right now. Other good ones are Centerforce, Spec, Fidanza, and if money is no object, McLeod.

Another vote for upgrading the clutch. Like nightmare said, get one of those clutches and you will be set. I'm running a Centerforce DF2. Been beating on it for years in my Cobra dn still looks/grabs great.

Centerforce is a bit pricey for me, where a clutch and pressure plate alone cost almost the price for a full clutch job

Just don't get a Spec 1...I put one in on my old vert and I hated it. I'm pretty tolerant of that type of stuff too.

Spend the extra few bucks and get the stage 2. That will take you to the horse power limit of the stock bottom end anyhow. It is a great clutch, easy engagement, and has taken everything that I have thrown at it. Went to the track on Sunday, and people were impressed with how I was barking the tires when I shifted hard into 4th. I like it better than a lot of the other clutch setups that I have had in this car as well as other mustangs and cars that I have owned.

Just make sure that you replace the throw out bearing and pilot bearings with the Ford/Ford racing ones. Dont use the ones that come with the clutch kit as they just dont seem to hold up as well (that goes for any clutch actually).

With any brand it is all in the stage you get. I suggest something for more than "stock". Like a Stage 2 exedy like above,or a Centerforce I. Both are around the $250 price tag.
A RAM powergrip would be good too @ around 275

Now, with the Exedy you linked. If it goes above that price of 135 plus $20 shipping. Like any higher that that, I suggest just buying it from AM for $174 shipped with guaranteed customer service/warranty/100% brand new.

Like I said, I wouldnt even mess with the stage one. go with the stage 2 so that it will be enough as you add power to the car.
