transmission question

well i was thinking about replacing my tranny when i get my new motor at the end of this month... any recommendations?

this is the motor i am having built for my car:

Stage 2 ported PI heads
Port matched PI intake
Bronze guides, SS valves, good springs
Custom cams
Rebuilt Teksid shortblock (cast 6 bolt crank)
11.5:1 compression - still runs on 93 octane
Powerband from 3500-7000, HP peak around 6300RPM


this same set-up he built for someone else is running really low 12's (but his is auto and a vert) im just wondering if i should rebuild my 84k mile transmission while the motor is out or will it be ok for a while? i've never had any problems with it grinding or anything else.. the rebuild kit i am thinking of getting is from Promotion

that is the obvious choice.. but unless someone wants to loan me 2500 im trying to go a little cheaper here guys.. does anyone on here have a rebuilt t-45 with the promotion rebuild kit?

go with a tko500/600 or a TR6060

the T45 can handle if built right. You can do a 4R with a manual VB and shift yourself if you want. They hold the power. Is this a DD, strip car, street cruiser,ect...?

tko will definitely handle most anything you throw at it. I have never dealt with the T45 but I have not had any issues with my Tremec TR3550 and I have had it a long time. the TKO series came after the 3550. go tremec, you will not be disappointed.
