Transmission questions

So I purchased my first mustang about 2 weeks ago and I love it! I do have a couple of questions though. It's 96 gt with the engine from an 01 swapped in and the clutch rattles, not sqeaks, but rattles when in neutral and stops when I engage the clutch. What could this be? How could I fix this? Also, I live in Georgia and summers are hot down here, but after about 15 minutes of driving the center console starts to get pretty hot. Is this from the transmission or exhaust and what can I do to fix this because it feels like I have the heat on when it's 95 degrees outside. Any input you guys have would be great because I'm pretty much a newb to mustangs right now.

All right so I've done some searching and it seems that the center console/dash getting hot is pretty much standard in mustangs. Next time I go to summit I'll pick up a couple yards of dynamat and see if I can help that problem a little bit. I thought the rattling clutch might me a tob but from what I've read, it's more of a squeak than a rattle. Once again any thoughts or ideas would be awesome the rattle is driving me crazy lol.

Sounds are awesome to diagnose online lol. But I can throw bad news at you for sure.

It could be your throw out bearing, could be your clutch, could be internal to the trans, in pretty much that order of likelihood.

It hasn't popped out of gear since I've been driving it. This is the first car that I've owned that's a manual so I don't know much about them but could it be low on fluid? And yes chatter describes the sound better than rattle.

It's most likely the clutch fork rattle. When you look underneath the car, there is a metal cover with one bolt that covers the fork. You can adjust it by putting your foot under the clutch pedal and push upwards. This adjusts the cable. When I ran out of adjustment I eliminated the problem with an adjustable cable, quadrant, & firewall adjuster. Try pushing the pedal up. Should take care of it. Good luck.
Also, you can insulate under the ashtray or remove the center console and insulate everything in that area.

I tried pulling up on the clutch cable and nothing happened. I think either it's adjusted all the way or I don't have the stock self adjusting cable because the guy who owned it before me converted it from an auto to manual and may have installed an aftermarket cable in to begin with. Where do I look to figure out if the cable is stock or not? Also what kind of insulation can I use? Can I walk up to my attic and get some of the pink insulation and stuff it in there? or do I need to get some special automotive insulation. Thanks for the help guys.

Alot of times the plastic teeth strip off the quadrant anyway. But since it's a conversion, there's no telling what the guy may have skipped or left loose, etc
