Well.... Basically I need a new one. I dont want to spend a whole bunch of money on one either. I know you get what you pay for. But right now Im looking for something to replace my existing T5.

Either a rebuild, or you can try to find a used Tremec 3550 if you're lucky.

That's a lot of money for a rebuild kit. A buddy of mine rebuilds T5s and he was showing me how they can be strengthened - but I would still just buy a TKO600 and be done with it.

But if I were going to do a rebuid on my tranny, is that something you would suggest?

astroperdormance is supposed to build some of the best transmissions around. So id say if it's from them it should be good. check into their A-5 rebuild kit. It's not that more expensive and is supposed to be hardcore. One of the magazines did a article a while back. id check into it

Honestly, I wouldn't give you an opinion on that because I'm not informed enough. I'd need to talk to my friend that does T5s too see how much of that is hype and how much is reality.

Paul.

That is the A-5 rebuild kit that they sell. It seems to be a pretty good kit. But like I said, it SEEMS to be. It would give me the first and fifth gear ratio that im wanting as well....

Paul, can you perhaps ask your friend? Any suggestions, or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again!

If your willing to spend $1200 on a rebuild for a T5, spend the extra and get a TKO series (500 is perfectly fine), a Bell housing and a Shifter.

The one thing I don't like about the Astro/G-force T-5 is the insides might be stronger but the case of a T-5 is weak. The 3550, TKO, TKO500/600 are all stout cases and overall trannies. Yeah they are pricey but you gotta pay to play.

You don't want to know how much my Performance Automatic AODE was.
